How Looney conquered the big screen, the earth blew up

journey The day when the earth exploded Keep reaching the big screen to say the least. Thanks to the Tomato Sauce Entertainment, these clumsy tunes manage to avoid the chopping of David Zaslav. Looney Tunes ComicsA current creative person led by director Pete Browngardt. On March 15, anime fans will be able to enjoy a 2D adventure on the big screen.
io9 sat down with the voice actors behind some of our favorite cartoons, Eric Bauza (Daffy and Porky in the film) and Candi Milo (Petunia Pig in the film), to discuss playing in a longer format story for the Looney Tunes’ first full-length animated feature—as well as the future of animation versus AI and the timelessness of characters no machine can replicate.

Sabina Graves, io9: Over the years, you both worked together, while others Looney Tunesbut here is the trio of Daffy, Pork and Petunia that can lead this alien invasion movie. How do you say chemistry as long-term collaborators help get involved in these different roles?
Candi Milo: I’m always excited when anyone realizes there is a chemistry between characters and it’s not easy to play with two people who have two completely different dynamics. But when it’s Eric, it’s really easy. This is because I do respect his talent level and dedication to these characters. However, our chemistry was good because we were all a little crazy. We had the same vibe, like we didn’t get in, “Sorry, I just left Nunnery yesterday. Please don’t use the language around me.” We both liked “Anyway, let’s make fun.”
Eric Bauza: Well, thanks Candi – I wouldn’t be on the runway without her and her work and what she did in front of me. So it makes sense that I work with someone like her. Yes, I think the key is to have fun and not take it that seriously, especially when you’re behind these characters, driving Daffy-Mobile and Porky-Mobile.
Milo: Can you die in the way Duffy comes back? To me, his Daffy [is] Not very even, this is the idiot I grew up with. Bring that [back] and [director] Pete Browngardt and the entire team, decided that it was the Daffy they wanted him to play, just made my life. That’s what I remember seeing Duffy. When they handed him a hammer, you know. shut up! I was like, “Shut up!”
Bowza: [Playful Daffy voice] “When you think of Aloof, you think of Eric Bauza! A guy who doesn’t know what he’s doing.” But yes, here are these characters you know. You don’t want to see Porky get punished, but in a sense you’re eating popcorn while watching the movie get served by Daffy every turn. But in the end, everything merged together. I think it’s a beautiful story.
Milo: Friendship always wins.
IO9: So, would you say that Pete really lets you run freely while creating these characters? And, have you reviewed the character’s introduction – I specifically mean [Candi] For Petunia – When you bring them here?
Milo: When I got the audition, I did look back, Sabina. I looked back at that early stuff – today I spent the whole day figuring out it was Judy Holliday. [Imitates voice] “It’s like the person she talks,” so I did it twice. The second one is me. Feedback is back [Warner Bros. Animation president] Sam sign up They don’t want to be a stupid girl, they don’t want to be girlfriends. They wanted the character to be a scientist, so Sam kept saying, “Tell her to lower her registry” and then they played my second view, and then he went, “Let’s keep going.” But Pete still wrote for my sense of humor, that [whole] Team – The way they wrote I think it’s interesting, I’m sure Eric there is the same thing. You have a shorthand.
Bowza: Oh yes, Pete and I have been working for many years Looney Tunes comics, Then, of course Grandpa and uncle Used for cartoon network. So this is a game [cartoon] Heaven, because he is really like those directors in the 40s. He does have the same sensibility as Crazy Or Cracked magazine, not “Disney” rather than “perfect picture.” Something leaveI think that’s why Candi and I are both on it A little bit. I’m talking about our sense of humor.
Milo: I think Eric and I both go against traditional voices and traditional characters in our performances. Sometimes gender is pushed onto women. [Petunia is] The scientist who made fun of her brain, she [rebels] Oppose this, but always on the side of friendship. I really believe that if Petunia thought she was coming among friends, she would have taken herself out of the picture and she ended up joining the friend. So I just think [the team]Pete, Alex [Kirwan]Johnny [Ryan],,,,, [is] Very good [at that].
IO9: I absolutely agree. Eric returns to what you said and understand how you are affected differently Looney Tunes Past cartoon production units, Bob Clampett and Chuck Jones and voice actors, have since been involved in this incredible franchise and really made it recognizable in style and sound. What is crucial in keeping the human element of “a little crazy” that this artistic expression is real to Rooney’s tune rather than letting AI master it?
Bowza: OK, you know there is a certain madness [performing]. I think AI is a good thing to some extent, technology will always exist, it will always move forward. Hopefully it is in the hands of the good and not the bad, because it can be used at least in the production sense we serve as a guide. But when it comes to the final execution of something, something that should be closed, you [should] Bring people back to the table and let them do their jobs, their jobs Assumptions To do it, it is just to create art from where human beings can. You know, after all, AI is just collecting information from what we have done, right? [Daffy voice in a standard inflection] “But then it got to the point where you know it sounds like this, which is great.” [Daffy voice in a more chaotic inflection] “But when you want to do that, that’s what you can tell.” That’s when the wheels fall off the AI and need to be shown.
Milo: There is an advertisement. I forgot what this is for – maybe it was during the Olympics – you walked there a couple who weren’t real, the kids weren’t real, the cherry blossoms weren’t real. I joined this group and they conducted three advertisements, [asked]“Which one of them is AI?” I called it and said, “These three are AI because it is the coldest. It’s not how people move. Things don’t move.” [I think to myself]I don’t want you to be better. I want you to walk away and just help us medically. That’s what I really want. It’s just help [on] Medical [issues]- Discover how we feed people. What should we do to stop the spread of the disease, that is what I want you to do, and nothing else, because it’s just the fact…I think we’ll see it [evolve]But I think we will see the hand-drawn 2D animation is Art.
IO9: Rooney’s tunes, especially across media and generations, are so timeless. I call them the masters of the memes because the younger generation will immediately recognize the tunes in the memes. Even in the meme, there is still a creative idea, which brings up a small anecdote that talks to the critical IDs inside our hearts, characters like bugs, daffy, and Relent can all step in. How you think of modern audiences will find their way The day when the earth exploded Thanks?
Bowza: Yes. OK, I mean, The day when the earth exploded Again, there are only countless visual gags, carefully drawn scenes with characters that you know look great on posters. They are well designed, but here are some things I’ve never seen in any other cartoon.
IO9: Farmer John’s stuff! I’m almost dying.

Milo: Oh, yes! When we were on the nomination screening, people died with only their mouths [still] Then float, but never move. To me, this is just a genius, who thought of it? Hey, this is a good idea, this is the character, he is [Daffy and Porky]these will never stop being crazy. And this guy is here –
Bowza: Who happens to have the luck to adopt them or bring them to his doorstep.
Milo: So I hope [and] I know Eric too – everyone in tomato sauce [Entertainment] Pray that we did a good job. [That] People shouted about this quality, it was 2D hand-painted, maybe we could come out of CGI [animation] Oval ellipse so. It’s the whole type, it’s a thing, I dug it and I get it. But I would love to see more. It’s not a bias of the same age group, but for a sense of humor.
IO9: It’s totally. These are different types in the medium and they should all be able to coexist!
