You know those times when you have problems, find solutions, and then the solution becomes something else everything better?
OK, I’m not sure how common this is, but that’s exactly what happened after my recent trip with people who are golf proud of it.
I like a heavy putter, but I also use a breakthrough golf stabilization shaft, which makes the putter Feel Due to the increase in stiffness, it is slightly lighter. Most importantly, I used an 80g mesoscale push rod grip that was about 20-30g heavier than the standard grip.
This means I unknowingly balanced my putter, which causes me to lift the putter head out of the outside of the takeout, causing the pull.
Fortunately, I happened to travel with some putter experts who quickly identified the problem and brought me all 9 golf pride’s reverse tapered putter grips closer to the standard 50 to 60g pressure putter grips. Last year, the reverse taper pusher grip was released in three shapes (round, pistol and flat bottom) and two sizes (neutral and larger) and flipped the traditional grip design, so the wider section was in a lower state.
Over the years, we have seen the popularity of oversized grips in PGA Tour and casual games, as they calm the hands and allow for larger muscle control putters. The reverse taper also achieved a similar quiet effect, but was isolated underneath in a stroke.

First, I tried the reverse taper medium pistol, but soon realized that the new reverse taper small pistol was a better choice for me. Golf Pride has just added smaller versions of all three shapes to this year’s reverse tapered lineup. This is great for me because I still play with blade putters (although larger, wide blades than I used to) have a lot of toes flowing, and grips that are too big can sometimes resist the natural tendency of that putter.
I would still classify the reverse taper with a smaller size as “extra-large size” because they are more powerful than the medium grip I’ve played with before, but the benefit is that the top of the grip is relatively similar.
Golf Pride Reverse Cone Pistol (Small)
Reverse tapered push rod grip technology stabilizes both hands and obtains a squarer push rod face at the impact. The back of the pistol kicks the heel pad locking to the push rod grip, while the slim up and wide underside provide enhanced control regardless of your grip style. With a dent pattern throughout the process for improved traction and a soft cheesy feel, it works well in all situations.

This feeling is different from what I used to feel. The reverse taper “quieted” down my bottom and took it out of the stroke, which wasn’t too much – so my right hand worked with my puttoke like never before. This is great for me because – while there isn’t a right way to putt – it seems best to drive a stroke with right hand (I probably got this idea from Tiger Woods).
Plus, only 52g, the grip solved my swing problem and now I have the feel of the putter head I’ve been looking for.
So if you want your right hand to get more involved in stroke, check out the Golf Pride’s new reverse taper.
