Referee warns to release Hamas video

The judicial regulator shared a Hamas video on social media to formally warn of the attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, asking a judicial regulator to formally warn of serious misconduct.

Abdul Malik, also Bristol City Councilman and Mosque leader, initially claimed that he was only marked in the Post, but later accepted that he had to share the post himself.

The Judicial Conduct Investigation Office (JCIO) found that Mr. Malik “failed to exercise proper care and diligence” and that his actions “had adversely affect the “reputation of the judge.”

Greens MPs repeatedly apologized for the incident and insisted that he did not support Hamas.

The party said: “He is very clear that he does not approve of the content of the post he shared.

In October 2023, Mr Malik’s Facebook timeline posted “video of Hamas involving their attack on southern Israel”, the JCIO said in a statement released on Tuesday.

Mr. Malik told the media in early 2024 that he had been tagged in the post and appeared on his account because it was not protected.

But the account was challenged, and later he told his superior that he “discovered that he had to share the post himself” and then investigated.

“He explained that he shared the post without checking its source or content and did not endorse it, comment or “like it.”

“Always regretful”

“It was offensive for him to agree to the position, and he stressed that he did not support Hamas.

“He said he has been critical of Hamas’ position as a large mosque in Bristol. Once he realized this, he deleted the position and said he regretted sharing it and learned from the incident. I’ve learned something.”

JCIO said Mr Malik claimed his original explanation was “sincere” and he revised it when he realized it was incorrect.

The nominated JCIO committee member found that Mr. Malik initially denied responsibility for the position “was publicly discredited and exacerbated the damage caused by the initial sharing of the position”.

“Occurrence and damage”

Committee members recommended a formal warning to Mr. Malik and noted his “records of previous unmistakable conduct and good reputation within the community”.

After the incident, he has always “always kept remorseful”.

The statement added that High Court Justice Keehan and Prime Minister Lord Shabana Mahmood both agreed to the sanction.

The Greens said Mr. Malik “condemned Hamas’s long history in his role as a local mosque.”

A statement added: “It is crucial that he has learned from the incident and understood the crime and caused harm.

“Mr. Malik, as an effective and hardworking MP in Bristol, has the full support of the party and hopes that this will draw a line under this action of serious judgment.”
