How to stop students from cheating

In each group of kids, there will always be at least one person who likes to disturb trouble. Today’s savvy students have figured out how to mess up with applications like Kahoot! Behind the scenes, turning interesting games into more troubles. They search and share Kahoot online! Hackers who break the game in a way that goes from naughty to outright cheating.

These hackers are the teacher’s problem and the hacker’s classmates, who just want to learn and have some fun in the classroom. Find out how to stop Kahoot! Hackers and hackers, we ask people on our Facebook teacher helpline group to share their important tips and suggestions.

What is Kahoot! hacker?

Like any other online website or app, Kahoot! There are many ways to get hacked to change the way developers want to experience the game. The kids learn about these hackers through a simple web search where they will find videos and websites that go through the process step by step. In other words, there is no need for computer geniuses to exploit these hacks.

Some kahoot! Hackers include:

• Tampering with automatic nickname generator
• Use robots to play “spam” with redundant players
• Use a website or cheat code that allows players to see the correct answer to each question
• Send a “denial of service” attack to prevent anyone from accessing the game

These hackers can be hard to detect, as students usually visit Kahoot! On your own device. In many cases, they can simply access the website that provides hacking and enter Kahoot! Game information and log in as usual. Now they can use automated robots or worse yet cheat.

There are some ways to cheat, I catch a guy doing this – he sits in the back and I can’t see what he’s doing. He has the highest grades and has a very bad grade in my class. The next day, I asked my students if they knew Kahoot! Maybe he was deceived, his hand raised. So I pulled him aside and said, “You cheated yesterday, didn’t you?” he admitted.

How to attract students to attack Kahoot!

Some hackers can easily spot such as inappropriate nicknames appearing for each student, or dozens of unknown students joining your game. When this happens, the best way to do it is probably to turn off the game and go on to other things, letting the students know that someone in the class is ruining their fun. In most cases, children will delete it when they realize they are not giving the impression they want.

I just stopped playing. When they asked me why, I said people were cheating and making the game unfun.

However, it is difficult to spot when students cheat to get the correct answer. This is why it is important to monitor screens while students play games. You can do this by walking around the room, in the old fashioned way, or use an app that displays its screen on your own computer.

I used Gogar and caught one of my kids cheating. He tried to argue, but I’ve taken the screenshot. He turned off his computer and refused to participate in the rest of the time. But since then we did more Kahoots and he didn’t try to cheat.

Block the top hacking sites

Search online for websites your students may find and use. Then ask your school IT team to block these sites on your school equipment. (Note that new hackers always pop up, so visit.)

Turn off the automatic nickname generator

I asked them to use their name as username. Click on anything you don’t need and lock it before we play.

On the screen where the name pops up on the screen, there is a button that looks like a lock before pressing the Start button. Click it and no one can join when playing.

This requires the player to enter the PIN, which changes every seven seconds. This usually stops the robot. This is how it works.

Change your Kahoot! method

I just changed the way we played. I create links, share our LMS, and get them to work with partners. One partner opens the notes and the other has the game on the screen. Less competition, more learning. They play until everything is properly resolved or I call time. I also released me to walk around.

I have a paper copy ready. I told them that if I saw a cheat I would turn it off. Usually only once. It brings fun when they see that we know what they are doing.

I’m already in Kahoot! The “Assignment” feature was used, posted it to Google Classroom, and then announced it was the resource I suggested they prepare. Then, if they do, it’s great. If that is not the case, it is up to them. I am the same, and I have built it in some study/working hours in the classroom.
