Husband accused of “former Iranian army sniper”, heartbreak of pregnant woman in Alabama
The accused former Iranian army sniper was detained by an ice driver in Alabama and may now be forced to abandon his pregnant wife when he faces deportation.
Ribvar Karimi, a group of 11 Iranian nationals, were arrested over the weekend and charged with illegally in the country, the Department of Homeland Security said.
The arrest comes hours after President Donald Trump ordered a strike against Iran.
The Department of Homeland Security said on Tuesday that Karimi was “reported to be an Iranian military sniper between 2018 and 2021.”
The man was charged with possessing an Iranian Islamic Army ID card after being arrested on Sunday. He is currently in custody in ICE, and the Department of Homeland Security said he will continue in the dismissal process.

Karimi allegedly entered the United States with a K-1 visa last October, which was issued to foreign nationals who are fiancés or fiancés of American citizens. The document requires a couple to get married within 90 days of entry.
His wife, Morgan Karimi, said he came to the United States so that the couple could get married.
The Department of Homeland Security claims Karimi “never adjusted his identity”, suggesting that visa terms were broken because he either failed to apply for a green card or did not get married within the required time frame. The agency did not provide further information.
However, Morgan Karimi competes with her and Karimi, who did marry in the 90-day window and her husband was wrongly swept over the Trump administration’s immigration crackdown.
According to a website dedicated to the couple’s wedding, a Blunt County resident was 31 weeks pregnant and 31 weeks pregnant, and she met Karimi online in February 2019 in February 2019.
The couple will tie knots in Blanzville on February 22.
“He came to the United States legally on the K1 fiancé visa. We followed all the rules – get married within a 90-day window, just like we should,” Morgan Karimi said of her husband in a Facebook plea. “We have done everything with books.”
Morgan Karimi has asked local communities to seek financial assistance to “fight for their own freedom and bring our families together.”

In another Facebook post Tuesday, Morgan shared a montage of her husband’s photos, which were worn by several outfits with a star-stripe banner. A video seems to show Karimi hanging out, waving the American flag happily.
“No one should have more than this one. He loves our country,” she wrote.
Morgan said she had managed to get in touch with her husband in custody on ice, who said he was worried about her and her unborn child.
Her Facebook page documented the couple’s relationship and their efforts to obtain a Karimi visa.
On April 18, Morgan shared photos of the couple’s baby ultrasound scan.
On September 21 last year, she asked the couple how to make the wedding more affordable “because the visa process is not cheap.”

Three days later, Morgan shared that Karimi’s visa “is finally approved”, adding: “Let the wedding planning begin!”
Karimi’s case was approved on January 3, 2023, according to screenshots shared in her Facebook profile. His visa application was allegedly first received in September 2021.
In an August 2022 photo, Karimi is wearing a T-shirt with a black and white American flag on it. In May 2021, Morgan Karimi updated her Facebook identity and said she was engaged.

“Under Secretary Neum, the Department of Homeland Security has been identifying and arresting known or suspected terrorists and violent extremists who have entered the country illegally, through Biden’s fraudulent parole program or otherwise,” said DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin.
