Jimmy Butler sent a clear message to other playoff teams – he wasn’t afraid of anyone.
The Warriors beat the Grizzlies in an epic way to make the first round of the playoffs against the Rockets with a ticket.
Younger, more experienced teams like Houston will make the most of Butler.
“I like having a goal on my back,” Butler told sports When asked about having to keep young competitors out. “I think I had it in my last few years in the East and (Warriors) will have it until I left the mother at 30 (Stephen Curry) and 23 (Draymond Green).
“They always become the team to beat. Everyone is always afraid of them. Everyone knows they don’t have any games and I like to be a part of it. I’m not afraid of anyone. You know me. You don’t know me. I’m not afraid of anyone. I know my ability. It’s hard to beat for them to win.”
After telling the media that he wasn’t afraid of anyone, Butler then showed a gentle side and admitted that he was working to be great, not just for himself.
“Look, I won’t say I’m not hungry, but I did it for Stephen,” Butler told Track and Field. “I’m doing this for Dray. I did this for these guys. Even though I want to win the championship, I want Dray to win another title. I want Steph to win another title. I know I don’t have mine yet, but they deserve that. They’ve been putting this city and this organization on their backs and I can do something special here.”
