Czech wins Masters 1000 title in Miami

Jakub Mensik qualified for the Next Generation ATP Finals hosted by PIF for the second time.
“I am extremely happy and excited to qualify for the Next Generation ATP Finals for the second time,” Mencic said. “It’s been a really good year for me, winning my first ATP title at the Miami Masters 1000. It was a really great tournament and makes it even more special to finish the year as a top-20 player. I’m excited to see you all in Jeddah in December.”
The 20-year-old made history in Miami earlier this season when he defeated Novak Djokovic in the final to become the second youngest winner in the tournament’s history, behind only Carlos Alcaraz. Mencic, then 19, was the fifth teenager to defeat Djokovic on the ATP Tour.
The Czech jumped to a career-high No. 16 in the PIF ATP Rankings in August following a stellar year that saw him earn four top-10 finishes in 2025, according to the Infosys ATP Win/Loss Index. Mencic defeated Jack Draper, Taylor Fritz and Djokovic in Miami and knocked out Kasper Ruud to reach the third round at the Australian Open.
Mencic reached the quarterfinals in Madrid and advanced to the fourth round in Rome. He also reached the quarter-finals in Brisbane, Auckland, Eastbourne and Beijing.
Last year’s champion Joao Fonseca has withdrawn from the 2025 Next Generation ATP Finals hosted by PIF, still recovering from an injury sustained at the end of the 2025 ATP Tour season. We wish Joao good luck with his recovery and preparation for the 2026 ATP Tour season.
The 2025 Next Generation ATP Finals, hosted by PIF, will be held from December 17th to 21st. Former champions include Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz.
