Jim Nantz of CBS

In his opinion, CBS TV commentator Jim Nantz imagines that he has a long way to go to say “goodbye, friend” and retirement.
Nantz, 65, will play his 40th Master next month, told Scottish Golf that he wants to continue playing with the 100th Master in 2036.
“A lot of things are going to happen,” Nanz told Buckled. “First of all, my health has to stick with it. Second, CBS and Augusta National have to want me back. But if all the stars are consistent, now, it feels like a good outlet.
“April 14, 2036. That’s my scheduled retirement date. It would be an ideal place to go out.”
Nantz went on to serve as CBS’ top broadcaster in NFL broadcasting, where he participated in the first Masters broadcast in 1986. He is also the top voice of the network’s PGA Tour Telecasts.
He also coined the familiar master phrase “Unlike Others” in 1986, a trademark of the 2014 Masters.
However, Nanz said he has no stone even if he wants to reach his target retirement date at the 2036 Masters.
“I know what’s going to happen,” Nanz told Bunkered. “I’m going to be that year and I’m going to say, ‘You know, maybe I can do this for a while.’
“We have a lot of broadcasters here that lasted until the 80s, so I guess that was one of them.”
