Los Angeles detectives are reviewing the last days of a 14-year-old missing girl whose body was found in the trunk of singer D4VD.
Celeste Rivas reportedly disappeared from the Inland Empire in 2024, and her whereabouts remain a mystery since then.
Her body, which was severely broken down, was found in a car in a Hollywood trailer on September 8 after seizure. Someone noticed the smell of the vehicle. Police said the car was towed from the area around the Hollywood Hills house rented by D4VD.
Detectives provided a search warrant Wednesday night in a home in an upscale community in Doheny Drive, north of Sunset Avenue. Law enforcement sources know about the case, but have no right to speak out publicly, saying detectives received various projects, including electronics and computers.
It is not clear when the girl died and how long her body lasted on the tree trunk. Law enforcement sources said the car had a Texas license plate and the body was contained in a bag.
Authorities say the 20-year-old D4VD, whose real name is David Anthony Burke, is working with investigators. Representatives of the musician did not respond to a request for comment because the musician canceled the recent national tour.
Gisel Vera identified himself as a relative of Celeste and co-founded the Gofundme page to raise funds for the funeral, telling the Times family that there was no immediate comment on the case.
Police have not said what Burke’s Connecton is. However, several photos appeared online, and in some publications it seems that the two were displayed together. The times cannot independently confirm these photos.
A neighbor on the Hollywood Hills told KABC-TV that he noticed Tesla was parked in the street and found it a bit suspicious.
“It’s a bit weird to see a car I haven’t seen in a long time,” he told the station. “It has a big dent on it and a Texas plate on it.
Burke grew up in Houston and worked with musicians Kali Uchis, Strey Children’s Henjin, Laufey and 21 Savage. He also created a national anthem for the game “Fortnite”.
Burke has been touring nationwide since early August, promoting his debut album “Withered.” He performed in Boston, Montreal and Toronto in late August, and stopped in Detroit, Chicago and Indianapolis in early September.
The tour’s American legs are scheduled to end in Los Angeles in September. Goldenvoice of the National Tour has not responded to a request for comment, which is scheduled to resume in Europe in October.
