Laurie Canter gives up PGA Tour card to join Majestiks at LIV Golf

Laurie Canter turned down a PGA Tour card and joined the Saudi-backed LIV Golf club for a second time. The league announced on Monday that he has joined the Majestiks for the 2026 season.
Kanter finished seventh at the Battle of Dubai and was one of 10 players on the European Tour to earn a spot on the PGA Tour. After joining LIV Golf, he will be suspended from the PGA Tour and his card will be owned by Daniel Brown.
“Joining Majesticks GC is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a team that has helped shape LIV Golf from day one,” Kanter said in a statement.
The 36-year-old from England is an unusual case when LIV launches the league in 2022. He had limited status on the European circuit, joining a Saudi-backed league to get a chance to play football. Kanter made seven appearances in his first year and finished 28th in the standings.
In 2023, he became a substitute player to fill in for injured players and participated in 11 LIV Golf events. At the beginning of 2024, Kanter served as a substitute and played two games with LIV until he was replaced by Anthony Kim.
He returned to the European Tour and won the European Open in Germany in 2024. Another victory in Bahrain in early 2025 lifted Kanter’s world ranking to 50th. This led him to the Players Championship, making him the first former LIV player to compete in the tour’s top event. He also made it to the Masters.
Canter joins LIV Golf along with French player Victor Perez.
The Majestiks are a British team consisting of Lee Westwood, Ian Poulter, Henrik Stenson and Sam Horsfield. Stenson failed to crack the top 48 this year and was demoted to make room for Kanter.
“The growth of the league has been remarkable and my experience in the league has made me a more complete player and a multiple winner on the DP World Tour,” Kanter said of the company’s name on the European Tour. “It’s a huge privilege to be back in the league with Majesticks GC, they bring a standard of excellence, ambition and identity that really resonates with me.”
McKibbin earned his PGA Tour card via the European Tour last year and joined LIV in January. Since the season has already begun, his PGA Tour card was not handed over to the next player. Brown could live with that because Kanter signed with LIV before the end of the year.
