LG Smart TV Gets Xbox Game Pass This Week

Microsoft promised in a weird campaign last year that it would make the Xbox Game Pass more than just the hardware of its gaming brand, thanks to Xbox Cloud Gaming. One of the previously announced platforms that it will gain the ability to run Xbox Game Pass is LG’s smart TV. Today, LG announced that the Xbox app will begin launching its collection of smart TVs in 25 countries this week.

The Xbox app is compatible with the selected LG screen and monitor. According to the press release, available models include “2022 OLED TVS, 2023 OLED, QNED, NANOCELL and UHD TVS… They have been updated to software version 23.20.01 or later.” It will also be available later on LG’s StanbyMe screen. Once downloaded, the app allows members of the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate sublscript to stream to the title they already have or access the title from the Game Pass library.

LG is the latest electronics manufacturer that can provide an Xbox experience without having to physically own an Xbox. Samsung has done so, and Amazon’s Fire TV also has an Xbox app.
