London’s Heathrow Airport is temporarily closed due to “large power outages”

London’s Heathrow Airport announced it will be closed on Friday due to a “massive power outage” caused by the fire.
“There is a massive outage at Heathrow Airport due to a fire at the electrical substation that provides the airport at the airport,” Heathrow said in an article on X.
It is not clear how many flights will be affected immediately. The airport said it will be closed at midnight local time on Friday.
The London Fire Brigade said 10 fire trucks and about 70 firefighters were attacking a substation in Hayes, London near the airport. The cause of the fire is not yet known.
“The fire has caused power outages that affect a large number of homes and local businesses, and we are working closely with our partners to minimize disruption,” Assistant Commissioner Pat Goulbourne said in a statement.
Goulburn said firefighters have removed 29 people from nearby properties to safety, with about 150 evacuated.
The UK’s busiest airport is advised to contact their airlines for more information.
This is a developing story that will be updated.
