Luka Doncic did not look back. After an unexpected exit from Dallas earlier this year, the five-time all-NBA guard made it clear that his only focus was to hold the championship in Los Angeles.
“He keeps going,” Doncic’s manager Lara Beth Seager told track and field. “He’s just looking for it. He’s here. He wants to get the best players here. He wants to win, and he knows it’s starting with him. He’s here. He wants to get the best players here.”
Don Sici never asked to trade from the Mavericks, and Monvesic was blinded when the current station transported him out.
To make matters worse, Mavericks began to publicly criticize him, questioning his conditions and commitments.
“He wanted to win, and he knew it started with him,” Sieg said. “And I think that’s what he proved in the offseason.
In 28 games against the Lakers, Doncic scored 28.2 points, 8.1 rebounds and 7.5 assists on 53% of the field goal percentage. His first playoff ended with the team ended with a first-round loss, but his approach this summer showed a new level of commitment.
The long-term deal allowed him to continue his contract in 2028, with the Lakers making a lot of investments on the roster including Deandre Ayton and Marcus Smart, and Doncic finally got the support he wanted.
For him, it was no longer a Dallas drama. It’s about creating a legacy in Los Angeles.
