Man charged with murder to shoot LAPD officials

A 27-year-old man was charged with murder this week after shooting a Los Angeles police officer in the footsteps of the Expo Park, prosecutors said.
According to Los Angeles County County, Ernesto Sepulveda’s statement in Los Angeles County Dist, he allegedly faces life imprisonment after two attempts to ask him about the fire near Martin Luther King Jr. Park. Atti. Nathan Hochman.
LAPD chief Jim McDonnell said last week that officers were assigned to “gang law enforcement details” when they approached Sepulveda. McDonald said he ran away, running away “turning around and firing at our officers.”
The officer who was hit on his leg suffered life-threatening injuries.
“We are grateful that these two officers have survived the horrific encounters that the two officers targeted in this difficult and unprovoked attack,” Hawkman said in a statement. “I will not tolerate any violence against those who have sworn to protect us.”
Sepurvida pleaded not guilty during a Wednesday arraignment. He is represented by the Los Angeles County Public Defender Office. A spokesperson did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The weapon allegedly used was the so-called “ghost gun” which had no serial number, Hockman said.
