Marjorie Taylor Greene wants to investigate Tesla protests, presumably because they hurt the value of her Tesla stock

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, who I want to emphasize, is angry. Of course, this is not new. She is always angry about something. But this time it was people who exercised constitutionally guaranteed rights to protest outside Tesla dealerships. After Trump claimed that he would prosecute anyone arrested in connection with the protests, Green announced on Twitter that she had sent a letter to Attorney General Pam Bondi and FBI Director Kash Patel asking them to investigate the protests and insisted that “the attack on Tesla must be investigated as family terrorism!” There is no property. Tesla Inc.

In the accompanying letters, Green mentions “the wave of organized attacks against Elon Musk” and then spins the claim of property damage. And, she was right, with several incidents that clearly violated the law, including burning some parked Seberak. Of course, then she began to complain about alleged involvement in Antifa, an imaginary family terrorist group Republicans insisted on coordinating violent protests, i.e. Literally 2020 burned several major U.S. cities (oh wait, that didn’t happen either). In fact, many of the crimes that did take place around the protests in the summer were eventually traced back to the right-wing agitators who tried to undermine the movement seemed always excluded, too.

Oh, of course, she had to repeat Musk’s ridiculous claim that payment processing platforms are used by various left-leaning organizations to collect donations from individuals is an evil plan.

Your rules, but not me

Marjorie Taylor Greene Family Terrorism Tweet

Greene is famous for being one of the loudest and stupidest Republicans in Congress, so it’s no surprise that she tries to court Musk, but she may have other motives, too. Specifically, she spent a lot of money on Tesla stock, you don’t know, because the public sentiment is against Musk, the value of his meme stock is constantly falling. As of writing, TSLA has dropped more than 36% this year, which is good news, if you want bad things to happen in Musk, but if you want this line to never stop rising, then the terrible news is terrible.

When Forbes looked at Greene’s financial disclosures, it was discovered that while she owned less than $1,000 in Tesla stock by the end of 2023, she started buying more in September 2024 after Musk covered up and threw his full weight behind Trump. Green made nine purchases in total, and while it is unclear from the exact amount of investments disclosed, the total value ranges from $9,000 to $135,000. Forbes also found that five stocks happened after Green was placed on the House Committee that worked with Musk and his elite Broccoli-haired teenagers.

Although this is already sketchy at best, it is not necessarily illegal. However, the letters she sent are likely to cross the moral boundaries laid out in the House Code of Conduct. “This letter could cause serious moral problems for Representative Green,” campaign finance attorney Brett Kappel told Forbes. “The House Code of Ethics prohibits members from taking any official action in favor of her own financial interests.” Again, morality only has practical consequences for immoral behavior, and Mike Forking Johnson does anything about moral violations within his party, even if you think moral behavior is a big deal for the so-called family values party.

Even if you fully support Tesla’s protests and want to see Musk come out of the White House, mostly collapsed and live in a broken Seberak, crime is still a crime. It is wrong to put others in danger, but it is also trapped in the hands of Republicans who are desperate to use property damage to prove that it has been carried out after peaceful protesters who exercise their First Amendment rights. And the more they succeed in convinceing the public that anti-Musk protesters are violent terrorists, the more they can accuse peaceful protests as family terrorists. Republicans have been arrested on U.S. soil because they don’t like his speech and there is no reason to think they will stop with legal permanent residents.

Whether or not the prosecutor of Georgia defense attorney Lawrence J. will really be a completely different question, but the Justice Department that filed the charges is not unimaginable. But the alleged regular protesters as terrorists are likely to be, well, New York Times Put this “boldly away from the previously determined norms.” So as long as the protesters stay on either side that doesn’t explode or burn legally, all the weird nerds of Green and Elon just need to be angry at their ranks.
