Massive casualties announced at Black Bike Week concert in South Carolina: Report

According to local reports, authorities are investigating after a concert at Black Bike Week in Atlantic Beach, South Carolina, which was in chaos Saturday night, resulting in multiple injuries.

According to The Sun News, the annual Memorial Day weekend event attracted thousands of cyclists and motorcycle enthusiasts, many from the black community, turning into a chaotic scene where multiple people were injured after the obvious dispute led to the stampede.

Event attendee Hilton Dewitt told Sun News that there was a dispute on the street around 1 a.m., which led to concert enthusiasts running to the stage.

He said the ambulance followed and the police closed the event.

Myrtle Beach scanner reported the incident on Facebook and said 10 people were taken to hospital. Authorities have not confirmed the number of injured people.

“They started to panic,” Dewett said. “That’s a stampede.”

According to The Sun, the Atlantic Beach Bike Festival has been held for many years on Atlantic Beach and other nearby beaches during Memorial Day weekend and has attracted a large number of cyclists.

The report said this year’s event will be held from Friday to Monday. According to The Sun, as of Sunday morning, some vendors seemed to be packing. It is not clear whether the event will continue on Sunday and Monday.

Atlantic Beach Interim Police Chief Carlos Castillo told ABC 15 that there is currently no information on online reports.
