How to make a visual committee in school
While the Children’s Vision Committee and the Youth Vision Committee will look different, students of all ages can create visual committees that include personal goals, family life goals, behavioral goals, academic goals, or combinations of these! Make sure to explain clearly what the purpose of the vision board is. Showing some examples will help young students.
Typically, you can follow these simple steps to help your class create a visual board:
- Set a target list: Before students start creating vision boards, they need to define their goals and areas of growth. Teach students to use intelligent formulas to ensure that any goals they set are specific and measurable.
- Create a word wall: Have students write down words and quotes related to the goals they listed. This could be a simple brainstorming activity, or a student could do some research to find books, movies, songs, or famous quotes from celebrities.
- Select an image: Provide students with old books and magazines that can crop images from them, let them print out images, or have them save images on their computers as digital vision boards. These images should represent their goals and illustrate how they feel when they achieve them.
