Meghan Markle It was revealed that she was unable to try beauty ads due to freckles.
“That was when I was an actor and auditioned for the commercial,” the 43-year-old Duchess of Sussex told guests and friends. Jamie Kern Lima Lemonada Media’s “Confessions of Female Founders” podcast on Tuesday, April 29. “And I remember my business agent was unable to submit my beauty or skincare ads because I had freckles.”
Meghan recalls being turned away because her freckles were not considered a “sign of beauty.”
“You can’t see yourself being reflected there,” she said of the beauty industry advertising their products.
Royals praised Kern Lima, the founder of IT Cosmetics, who went out of his way to model real-life women of all ages, shapes, sizes and skin tones.
“That’s such a new mindset. When you bring it to the market [unheard of],” Megan said. “It seems to be more standardized now. Now the people who listen to it are like “Yes, of course”, of course not one. This is a revolutionary way to consider makeup and beauty at that time. ”

Kern Lima, 47, set up a cosmetics company in 2008 after struggling to find products to help her fight rosacea and pigmentation. Before finding success, she admitted to being rejected for “three consecutive years” when trying to include her brand in the store.
“I sent samples everywhere, and at the time, these products didn’t believe this product was suitable for people with skin problems, and we showed it in all ages, real people, size and color,” the businesswoman said. “They always say that to me, and these words are precisely, ‘Women will only buy makeup from images of unfulfilled wishes.” The two words are always “unfulfilled,” meaning you don’t even look like “because it’s not real.”
Despite the setbacks, Kern Lima did not give up on her dream. IT Cosmetics is now available in retailers nationwide. When Meghan decided to venture into the business world as always with her brand, she admitted that Kern Lima gave her some tough love advice in the long run.
“You and I just became friends and I’m talking to you about the business. I remember you saying to me, ‘Well, what’s that timeline?’ I said, “Oh, a few months later. “You said, “It’s too early. “I don’t want to hear that, but you’re right,” Megan recalls. “You planted a seed that made me my knowledge, which gave me grace to have room to borrow my time until it was right.”
Megan added: “I don’t want to hear it, it’s what I need to hear.”
