During the premiere on Monday, November 3, a brief time jump revealed that Matt (Mekhi Leeper) and Serena (Jin Jiaxian) work in different departments of the hospital. Serena begs for changes to help Matt get over his feelings for her – until she realizes Matt’s asking for the same thing.

Matt then told Serena he could leave her, which didn’t excite her. This twist implies that Serena is now more aware of her feelings for Matt, rather than the other way around – which is a change from the dynamic in season one.
