Israeli army says it will fire air reserves, signing letters condemning the war in Gaza

The Israeli military said on Friday that it would fire Air Force reserves, signed a letter condemning the Gaza war and accused it of serving only political interests and not taking hostages home.

In a statement to the Associated Press, an Army official said there was no room for any corpse or individuals, including active reserve personnel, “exploited their military identity while participating in the fight at the same time,” calling it a violation of trust between the commander and subordinates.

The Army said it decided that any active reserve personnel who signed the letter would not be able to continue serving. It did not specify how many people included, or whether the fire had started.

Israeli Air Force Reserve and Retirees issued a letter in Israeli media on Thursday asking hostages to return immediately, even at the cost of ending the battle, demanding the signing of nearly 1,000 Israeli Air Force Reserve and Retirees.

The letter was as Israeli attacks in Gaza, trying to put pressure on Hamas to allow Hamas to agree to free humanity, with 59 still in possession, and more than half of them dead.

Israel has imposed a lockdown on food, fuel and humanitarian aid, which has put civilians in an acute shortage as supplies drop. It has committed to occupying much of the Palestinian territory and to establish a new security corridor through it.

While the soldiers who signed the letter did not refuse to continue serving, it was part of a growing number of Israeli soldiers opposing the 18-month conflict, and some said they saw or did something across the moral route.

“It is totally illogical and irresponsible, representing Israeli policymakers…at the risk of hostage lives, the lives of more soldiers, the lives of many innocent Palestinians, and it is a very obvious Palestinian, Guy Poran is a very obvious choice,” Guy Poran, a retired Israeli Air Force pilot, told the Israeli Air Force pilot who led the relevant works.

He said he had no idea that someone had signed the letter, and since it was published, it had received dozens of signatures.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu downplayed the letter Friday, saying it was written by a “few weeds” and run by a foreign-funded NGO with the sole goal of overthrowing the right-wing government. ” He said anyone who encourages refusing to serve in the Army will be fired immediately.

Soldiers must avoid politics, and they rarely oppose the army. After Hamas attacked Israel on October 7, 2023, Israel quickly launched a campaign with Palestinian militant groups after the war.

Israel’s division has grown as the war progresses, but most of the criticism has focused on the number of soldiers killed and the number of failure to take hostages home rather than operations in Gaza.

Advocates who advocate hostage return stay stressed

The release of hostages and their families is doing everything they can to focus on their own difficulties and urging the government to take everyone away.

On this year’s Holocaust Memorial Day, military observer Agam Berger, who was hostage-taken and released in January, will perform in a parade of life ceremony in Poland, the annual memorial parade at Auschwitz concentration camp to commemorate the 6 million Jews killed in Nazi Germany and celebrate the state of Israel.

Berger will play a 130-year-old violin that survived the Holocaust and be brought to Israel during the main ritual of the Birkenau concentration camp. She will be murdered on October 7 by her parents, accompanied by Daniel Weiss, a resident of Kibbutz Be’eri.

There is no sign of slowing down in the war in Gaza.

Since Israel ended an eight-week ceasefire last month, it said it would go further into Gaza until Hamas released the hostages. According to the United Nations, more than 1,000 people have been killed in Gaza since the ceasefire collapsed.

The Israeli military issued an emergency warning to residents of several communities in northern Gaza on Friday, calling for them to evacuate immediately. According to the Gaza Ministry of Health, at least 26 people were killed and more than 100 were injured in the past 24 hours, which did not distinguish between civilians and combatants.
