Minjee Lee switched to this putter and won her third place

Minjee Lee has been one of the statistics of the worst putts ever since the LPGA began keeping the stats of stroke in 2021. Despite winning two majors before the season at that time, Lee has been in the top 120 for each of the last three seasons, losing half or more on the green.
This year is a completely different story. Lee finished eighth on the LPGA Tour in the upper hand, winning the race on the KPMG Women’s PGA Championshipm: she won her third career major title last weekend, the winner of the KPMG Women’s PGA Championshipm.
The obvious catalyst behind the switch? Lee is a long-time blade user who moved to the 42-inch Odyssey Ai-One Square 2 Square 2 Square 2 Square at the advice of her long-time coach Ritchie Smith.
“We sat down after the end of last year, maybe it was an option to try it, just look at how we felt,” Lee told Golf. “Obviously, Richie, he was like, ‘I’m not an expert, but we’ll figure it out together.'”
With the season still over, Lee and Smith initially put the idea on the rear burner, but once the offseason began, they decided to revisit it, and Odyssey sent Lee a few different options.

She eventually started to get the No. 7 shape from the New Square 2 Square line in Odyssey (the exact putter is not yet used in the broom configuration in the retail industry), and she started rolling her gamers and broom heads.
“The first few meetings we were like, ‘Oh, the roll on the broom is better,'” Lee said. “It’s just trying to figure out which grip, especially on my right hand, because I’m trying to really put my hands out and use my shoulders.”
Obviously, finding the right broom fit can be a challenge. Unlike installations that fit a traditional push rod or balanced model, your feeling doesn’t feel exactly the same as a broom. Your position is different, your grip is different, so your feeling will be different. Essentially, you start from scratch.
Lee said she had better success in the shorter broom version, as the longer putters felt heavier.
Then, when he first challenged her brother PGA Tour champion Min Woo Lee to play against the new wand, she beat him.

She smiled and said, “I’m a little chuf.”
Six months later, she added a major victory to the already successful season and she was looking for more.
“The more I’ve played, the more I see putts going in, the more I’ve worked on the broom, and I think obviously I’ll get more and more confidence and produce better results week after week,” Lee said. “I feel like I’m getting more satisfied with how it should work, like the strokes I need to put on, like pure scrolling.”
“I’m just trying to see it as a new adventure, not a negative thing. I just want to make it positive and fun. Obviously, if I do it well, it’s better.”
