Mitch McConnell falls in Senate basement during ICE raid

senator. Mitch McConnell The Kentucky Republican fell to the ground as he left the Senate chamber on Thursday, according to a video posted on social media.

In a video posted Thursday morning, McConnell tried to hold on for safety as an activist asked him about the ICE raid. Then he fell to the floor with a grunt.

“Senator Mitch McConnell fell down in Russell’s basement during questioning. [sic] Sunrise Movement member who shot this video,” EWTN Capitol Hill Reporter Eric Rosales Said X in the post accompanying the video.

After being helped to his feet, McConnell waved to the camera. As senators were escorted out of the building, snickers could be heard.

The latest in a series of worrying health scares for the 83-year-old former Republican Senate leader, who has served since 1985.

Back in the summer of 2023, the senator froze twice during public appearances, raising concerns about his health.

Also in 2023, McConnell was hospitalized after tripping in a hotel during a private dinner.

In February 2024, McConnell announced his resignation as Senate Republican leader and that he would not seek re-election as a member of the upper house of Congress when his term ends in January 2027.
