Mitt Romney’s sister-in-law found dead near Los Angeles County mall

Kelly Elizabeth Romney, the sister-in-law of former Utah Sen. Mitt Romney, was found dead near a Santa Clarita mall on Friday.
Her cause of death remains under investigation. However, investigators speculate that the 64-year-old Valencia resident fell or jumped from the five-story parking lot, said Nicole Nishida, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
According to the Sheriff’s Department, homicide investigators responded to the 24000 block of Town Center Drive near the Valencia Town Center Mall around 9 p.m. Friday.
Nishida said the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner is still conducting tests to confirm the cause of death.
Romney’s cause of death is listed as pending on the medical examiner’s website. It may take several months to complete toxicology testing and update the information.
Mitt Romney served as governor of Massachusetts from 2003 to 2007 and was the Republican 2012 presidential candidate. He was elected to the Utah U.S. Senate in 2018 and stepped down when his term ended in January.
Carrie Elizabeth Romney appears to be the wife of Mitt’s brother, G. Scott Romney, a lawyer who has supported Mitt’s campaign for years.
