Ricky asked:
The starting pitcher’s two performances were poor, Miles Mikolas and Erick Feddeis the Cardinal seeking a deal for at least one veteran starting pitcher?
Sam asked:
Bernie Miklasz seems to be talking about the cardinal’s possible dealing with Nootbaar. If they do, what kind of reward will the Cardinal get? His results were not good, but his Statcast stats were great.
At the time of writing, the Cardinals had a 33.5% chance of 1.5 games out of the wildcard in the playoffs.
The first question reminds me of the 2021 season, when John Mozeliak’s Cardinal was at the deadline of .500 clubs, with only 2-3% chances in the playoffs. The club picked up veterans Jon Lester and Ja Happ During the deadline, Mozeliak said: “We want to try to do it in a way that we won’t give up on our talents in the future; this is crucial in our decision-making. Needless to say, today, we feel we feel we don’t have to sacrifice our future and take a few steps.”
The 2021 team started on July 30 with a score of 39-21 and then lost the (only) NL Wild Card game against the Dodgers. Lester and Happ completely gave the Cardinals what they wanted: innings. One inning is usually provided by Mikolas and Fedde, with a total of 349 innings last year. Sonny Gray Great, and Matthew Liberatore and Andre Pallante Always very strong.
Mikolas and Fedde do deserve the era of around 5.00, and it’s logical to seek upgrades – either surpassing this year or upgrading in Lester/Happ Mold at a low cost. In my recent Bears trade deadline prospect, I named almost every potential start pitcher I could think of Drew Rasmussen. The Cardinals have very real shots in their playoffs this year – maybe a lot more than they expected – and I do think they should add a starter.
In a Monday article, track and field’s Katie Woo noted that Fedde may not make the next turn in the rotation, and Mikolas is not comfortable either. Michael McGreevy It’s the next man. The 25-year-old has performed well in Triple-A and is probably better than Fedde.
