iRobot doesn’t participate in CES, so we don’t usually get new Roomba hype like we do later in the winter, like we do for some of its competitors.
But for this year’s iRobot, jumping out of CES doesn’t mean jumping out of the spotlight of that spring cleaning. Irobot announced four new Roombas series on March 11 – not like the Roomba Drop you’ve seen before. Prices range from $299 to $999, all models opened on Irobot.com on March 18 and shipped on March 23.

Roombas has always been a staple in the robot vacuum market, as Irobot is often the first brand to bring innovative new robot vacuum cleaners capabilities to the mainstream. Everyone is attracted by the robot vacuum, which can remember your house map or an i7+ empty robot in 2018, or can avoid using the J7 robot vacuum that uses a phone charger in 2021.
However, after the sprint wear, the iRobot tends to be smooth. Other large robot vacuum brands catch up with lower prices and make the cheapest, most exotic Roombas all work hard to be your expense. Irobot heard these questions and did something about it – actually – a lot of things.

I think this 2025 Roomba display cabinet has more variety and depth than all Roombas in the past few years – you might call it the “Roomba Family Tree”. Most new models sit on round laser towers, each with a white option, so there is little similarity for older roommates.
Overall, there are eight new umbrellas that belong to four different umbrellas: Roomba 105 or 205, or Roomba Plus 405 or 505. Now, for those who don’t have a mutual interest in the black plastic look, white room bags are available. Some mops, some self-issued, and some can be both, matching priority features to a price that feels comfortable. However, one key robot vacuum function is fully applicable: intelligent mapping.

While at least the middle distance in high-end interiors is at least groundbreaking, the history of cheap roommates at low end records a huge history of jumping. For example, Irobot ushered in two new budget rooms in April 2024, neither of which have smart maps, both retail for $250 or more. Combination 2 Essential, which can be mop and self-issued, but still has no smart maps, later debuted for $424.99. At this point in the game, a robot’s vacuum just bumps and wants to get to the right place, which is almost guaranteed to be more valuable than it is, especially if you’re paying more than $100.

The new Roomba 105 series is a smarter choice in the $300 to $500 range. All 105 models are equipped with laser-driven smart mapping to clean the specific room when the command is made. Compared to the older mid-range Roomba i3 and i5 models, the Roomba 105 uses a four-stage cleaning system instead of three-stage, with a suction power of up to 70 times compared to the old base base base 600 series Roombas.
If you have a limited budget, there is still a lot of room for customization in your Roomba 105 purchase. The two that are not combined in the title do not have mops, but one of them is still automatically emptied. Plus, you can save money and space by selecting a combination version without the need for an automatic dock.
New mid-level room: roomba 205 series

The Roomba 205 DustCompactor series has received the coolest innovation on this list, providing a huge alternative to self-self docks for those living in small spaces. Rather than trying to squeeze the self-can into the most compact docks, Irobot found a way to simply compact the dust itself. As debris is sucked in, Roomba 205 condenses it enough to prevent you from venting the dust bin from your boat for up to 60 days.
The dock is no more than your regular tissue box, while the interior ba itself omits the radar tower to keep it flat, a rare option that can be stored entirely on a TV shelf, credenza or even a bed without having to give up on the convenience of automatically “empty”.

These last two Roomba releases aren’t the first time we’ve seen the Irobot’s automatic dock, but they do mark the first time we’ve seen an indoor ba, in $1,000 (or $800 in a 405 case) self-washing and drying mops. This is the grid of advanced maintenance features and practical prices we’ve seen from Irobot for years.
Both the 405 and 505 abandon the retractable mop arms, which is what Irobot has made a name for the Combo J7, J9 and 10 largest lines. Instead, two rotating mops, or Irobot called DualClean. In my briefing with Irobot about these products, I learned that the company found that customers found this dual-rotary pad system scrubbed more reliably than a large flat pad.

The main difference between the 405 and 505 models is the rotating pads on the Roomba and the perfect technique of the 505 using Irobot, which means they can be rotated from under the circular vacuum to the mop along the edges and corners. This hinge pad design is something I’ve experienced in some Roborock models now, and the focus on me is a game-changer for me, especially near kitchen counters. That is a real wall robot vacuum experience.
The Roomba Plus 505 also combines another of my navigation that is not negotiable: Avoiding small obstacles. Since robot vacuums using this technology can avoid random messes on the floor, such as charging ropes, loose laundry and pet waste, you can start cleaning spontaneously without having to organize the floor first. I’ve tested a large number of robot vacuums with this capability over the past two years, but Irobot’s PrecisionVision obstacle avoidance is always the most accurate. While several room bags at multiple price points can already do this, the Roomba Plus 505 combination is the only Roomba that offers less than $1,000 and offers this product and an automatic dock. Another option is the Combo 10 Max, which retails for $1,399.
