Nia Dacosta sees miracles as a learning experience

Looking back Miraclefew things are right. Making is difficult, the film is disappointing, and many fans find the story lacking. It’s frustrating considering what’s being tried: a sequel to one of Marvel’s biggest surprises, Captain Miraclein addition to weaving on Ms. Marvel and Monica Rambeau, and the most ambitious attempt to tie Disney+ streaming shows to the cinema universe.
Finally, many blame Nia Dacosta. She is an easy goal. A young black female filmmaker awarded such a large, complex project. Of course, this is largely unfounded and fringely offensive, as Dacosta is just a small part of the large corporate machine that she cannot control. But, looking back at the experience, she now has a very healthy view of it.
Speaking at the Storyhouse Screenwriter’s Festival in Dublin, Dacosta explained that there are many miraculous ways to make movies. “They’re on a date, they’re preparing something, and you just have to rely on the hardcore of the process,” she said at the event. “The way they make these movies is very different than the way, ideally, I would make a movie, so you just have to rely on the process and hope for the best.
Da Costa even admitted that at some point she was well aware of what was going to happen and just needed to accept it. “It’s fun because I thought, ‘Well, this isn’t going to be the first version of the movie I’ve shot, or even the first version of the movie I’ve shot,'” she said, so I realized it’s an experience, it’s a learning curve, it really makes you a filmmaker in terms of your navigational abilities,” she said.
We can feel that if you are one of Dacosta’s good friends and talk to her privately, she may feel much less about the situation. Correctly. She was thrown under the bus for a long time. But we love how she looks up on it, leaving it behind, and now consider it a valuable learning experience on her journey to Hollywood. Next, she took her to the shores of British zombies as she took the helm 28 years later: Bone Templein January 2026.
