Nigerian boxer dies after collapses in lightweight battle

Officials announced this week that a Nigerian boxer died after collapsed in a lightweight battle in Ghana.
Oluwasegun lost consciousness in a professional fight with Ghana boxer Jon Mbanugu, Oluwasegun, was pronounced dead at the Korle-Bu teaching hospital in the capital Accra, the Ghana Boxing Bureau said in a statement.
Authorities say Oluwasegun appears to have dominated his opponent until the third round, although he was not hit. Medical staff tried to recover the boxer before sending it to the hospital and he was pronounced dead about 30 minutes later.
Boxing authorities said: “It is “seriously mourning the demise of a potential world beating man who decided on a beautiful battle, suddenly… fell into something described as an inducing coma, even after an autopsy, with a formal cause of death. ”
Control of the Nigerian Boxing Commission was declared “medical fit” by the control of the Nigerian Boxing Commission, according to the Ghana Boxing Agency clearing him to participate.
