Nissan reports production drops by 12.1% in February 2025
Japanese automaker Nissan Motor reported a 12.1% year-on-year decline in global production in February 2025.
The company produces 237,982 units worldwide. Japan’s production was 52,198 units, down 13.2% from 13.2% in the same period last year, while the total production outside Japan was 185,784 units, down 11.7%.
U.S. production fell 21.4% to 47,088 vehicles, an increase of 7.2% in Mexico to 59,731.
Production of 25,764 vehicles in the UK fell 12.8%, while vehicles in China fell 35.6% to 24,890.
Other regions have produced 28,311 cars together, reflecting a 6.1% increase.
In terms of vehicle category, passenger car production was 46,493 units, a decrease of 19.6%, while commercial vehicle production soared 143.1% to 5,705 units.
Nissan’s global sales totaled 265,185 units, marking a year-on-year decline of 7.8%. Sales, including goods sold, were 41,216 units, down 13.3% from the previous year. Sales outside Japan totaled 223,969 units, reflecting a 6.7% drop.
In the regional market, North America sold 119,212 vehicles, down 1.8%, 89,181 vehicles sold in the United States (-4.1%), 8,353 vehicles in Canada (-15.6%), and 21,5552 vehicles in Mexico (16.8%).
Sales in Europe fell 3.6% to 29,624 units, while sales in China fell 24.7% to 31,508 units. Sales in other regions were reported at 43,625 units, down 5.1% from the previous year.
In terms of vehicle type, passenger car sales fell 14.6% to 20,345 units, while commercial vehicle sales rose 27.4% to 4,693 units.
In addition, Nissan’s total export volume from Japan from February 2025 reached 29,604 units, marking a year-on-year increase of 11.6%.
North American exports fell, with 13,186 vehicles transported down 34.3% compared to the previous year.
In contrast, exports in Europe increased by 41.3% to 3,213 vehicles. Other regions also experienced growth, with exports rising 18.3% to 13,205 vehicles.
Recently, Nissan announced plans to simplify its management structure starting in the fiscal year 2025, starting next month.
The move will reduce the number of current 42 top executives to 33.
