Evandale, Louisiana – Andrew Novak and Ben Griffin led by 61 in Saturday’s ball-off game to the final round of the Zurich Classic, the only team event on the PGA Tour.
Each of them chasing their first PGA Tour champions, Novak and Griffin scored a total of 27 shots under 189 in the alternate finale of Louisiana TPC.
“That’s what we both practice on the PGA Tour,” Griffin said of the win. “We want to compete with the best players and hope to end up testing ourselves and trying to finish.”
Last week, Novak lost to Justin Thomas in the Royal Canadian Innings legacy, his second three-game winning streak.
Novak Saod: “Three shots may be fast.” “It’s great to have it, but we still have to do a great job.”
Defending champions Master Champions Rory McIlroy and Irish Shane Lowry scored five shots after 61 shots. McIlroy returned from a weather delay of about 90 minutes, with a hawk putt on the 5th five-shot 5.
“The last thing I thought of during the delay was putting and then, once I got back there, I focused on it and made sure I did what I needed to do,” McIlroy said. “It was just a reward.”
Jake Knapp and Frankie Capan III have 60 Japanese duo Ryo Hisatsune and Takumi Kanaya under the age of 24. Hisatsune and Kanaya shoot 61.
PGA Tour rookies Isaiah Salinda and Kevin Velo led each of the first two days, with him fourth in the Under-23 race. They set a better record in the tournament with a record of 58 on Thursday.
Denmark’s identical twins Nikola and Rasmus Holgaard are also under 23 years old. They fired 64.
