TGL double highlights: Rickie Fowler, Rory McIlroy, etc.

On Monday, the league hosted its first double player of the season, and TGL’s move continued. In the first game, Los Angeles Golf Club participated in the New York Golf Club.

New York entered the game last week after beating Boston regular golf this season. Rickie Fowler, Cameron Young and Matt Fitzpatrick are active players in NYGC. Xander Schauffele did not compete. For Los Angeles, Sahith Theegala, Collin Morikawa and Tony Finau competed, while Tommy Fleetwood and Justin Rose competed. Finau, a former PGA Tour champion, made his TGL debut after signing a game contract with Los Angeles.

Despite a 4-0 lead from New York, the team still couldn’t stop Los Angeles as Los Angeles rushed into overtime to win 5-4.

In the second game of the doubles, Boston Common faced the Atlanta Drive Golf Club head-on. Boston is still looking for its first win of the year.

Rory McIlroy, Keegan Bradley and Hideki Matsuyama will play for Boston, while Adam Scott is inactive. On the other hand, Justin Thomas, Billy Horschel and Patrick Cantlay will dress up for Atlanta. Lucas Glover will not compete.

TGL brought the stars out on Monday. Tennis legend and part owner of LAGC Serena Williams as well as Super Bowl champions Avonte Maddox and Dallas Goedert and 13-time PGA TOUR TOUR champion Jason Day. Schauffele also cheered his teammates in the crowd.

Rickie Fowler stood up on hole 1 and nailed a 36-foot putt to give the New York GC a 1-0 lead. Fowler’s putt was the longest putt in the league’s inaugural season, which gave him a TGL record.

Cameron Young of the New York Golf Club fell on a 38-foot putt, making it the longest putt in TGL history.

Fowler’s record didn’t last long, as his teammates broke the record only after two holes. Young sank a 38-foot putter on hole 4.

Tony Finau drew a 10-foot putt on the 13th hole, bringing the Los Angeles Golf Club into one of the New York golf clubs.

Finau has performed well in his TGL debut. After his team’s slow start, Finau hit a 10-foot putt on the 13th hole, cutting the New York GC’s lead to 4-3 with two holes left.
