Nvidia and Foxconn teamed up to build what they call AI factory supercomputers in Taiwan. The company announced on Computex will “delivery state-of-the-art NVIDIA BLACKWELL infrastructure to researchers, startups and industries.” Nvidia is also the new local headquarters in Taiwan.
The supercomputer will be powered by 10,000 NVIDIA Blackwell GPUs. NVIDIA said the project will greatly improve the availability of AI computing and strengthen local researchers and businesses. It happens that the National Science and Technology Commission of Taiwan is investing in the project. It will provide supercomputers with AI cloud computing resources for people in its technology ecosystem.
Council Minister Wu Cheng: “Our plan is to build an AI-focused industrial ecosystem in southern Taiwan.” “We focus on investing in innovative research, developing a strong AI industry and encouraging daily use of AI tools. Foxconn provides the AI infrastructure for supercomputers through its large innovation company subsidiary, and will also use the system to further work in smart cities, electric vehicles and manufacturing industries. TSMC also hopes to benefit from the project. The company’s researchers will leverage the power of supercomputers in a bid to accelerate their R&D efforts.
