Octavio Dotel dies in tragedy of roof collapse

Former Major League Octavio Dotel Major League Baseball confirmed death in a tragic accident. The news was first reported by multiple media outlets in the Dominican Republic, including Diario Libre. The roof of the Jet Set Club in Santo Domingo collapsed early Tuesday morning. As of Tuesday night, at least 98 people had been killed and nearly 200 were injured, according to the Associated Press. Dortel is 51 years old this year.
The exact details of the tragic situation are difficult to determine, but when the collapse occurs, hundreds of people attend at the concert venue. Dozens of people are alive, but many die, and the numbers may change. Dortel was reportedly trapped for about 11 hours before being rescued and initially survived, but was pronounced dead after being taken to the hospital.
Dotel is well known among baseball fans as he pitched in the Grand Slam for more than a decade and bounced to various teams. He made his debut with the Mets in 1999, playing the role of swing. Before the 2000 season, he was traded to the Astronauts and continued to work for a while from rotation and bullpen.
He eventually promoted to the main relief role and achieved even greater success. Although his average running average exceeded 5.00 in 1999 and 2000, he performed 2.66 ERA in 2001. He threw 105 innings in 61 appearances, of which only 4 were innings.
He has continued to serve as a solid reliefist for years thereafter, bouncing towards track and field, Yankees, Royals, Braves, White Sox, Pirates, Dodgers, Rockies, Blue Jays, Cardinals, Cardinals and Tigers. He ended his career with 3.78 ERA in 758 games. He recorded 109 saves and 127. He won the World Series with the Cardinal in 2011. He was part of a joint defeat with the Astros in 2003. He retired in 2014.
