“On Another Page” – Collin Morikawa seeks Caddy again

Two-time major champion Collin Morikawa is back in the market after splitting up with Joe Greiner this week in Detroit’s Rocket Classic.

KK Limbhasut, a former teammate of Cal Berkeley’s Morikawa, will carry his schoolbags at the Detroit Golf Club this week. Limbhasut, 29, participated in Korn Ferry Tour.

At a press conference on Wednesday, Morikawa described Limbhasut as “filling”.

Greiner worked with Max Homa until they broke up in early April, and his last five PGA Tours began Morikawa’s bag. Morikawa advanced among everyone, but wasn’t above the tie at the Truist Championship on May 11.

Morikawa is fifth in the official world golf rankings, tied for 50th in the PGA Championship and 23rd in the U.S. Open.

Morikawa broke up with JJ Jakovac, the only caddie he has been a professional player so far in late April.

“I think people will be surprised, but I think it’s because two people are great to them and it doesn’t mean they’ll be great together,” Morikava said. “I think Joe is an amazing caddie, but I think we kind of see things, or the day-to-day work, how we do that, we’re just a little bit on another page.

“It doesn’t mean it’s right or wrong, but to me it just feels wrong. I have to explore other options. I know this is coming in.”

After breaking up with Homa, Greiner was Justin Thomas’ fill-up caddy in the Masters and RBC legacy, which Thomas won to end nearly three years of tour drought. Minister Matt, Thomas’ full-time caddie, returned with injuries after victory.

“I know it’s going to be a good start, and for me, testing it would be a fun thing for me to know I’m putting myself there,” Morikava said. “But at the end of the day, you don’t know how you’re going to be because honestly, we’ve been with them more time than anyone else in the world.”

“Sometimes, I spend more time with them than my wife. It’s a real relationship. Look, I hope JJ and Joe go well, but now, it feels like I need to fill it.”

Morikawa said he wasn’t sure who would be his caddie at the Open Championship at the Royal Portrush Golf Club in Northern Ireland next month, the last major of the season.
