Can Kukra do something wrong? SAT SA’s profit Powerhouse sold so many cars that it even rose to six positions in Europe’s largest national market in March. This means it is ahead not only Ford, but Opel, data from the German KBA.
Audi stayed safe in its fifth place in its home country, a long way (17,608 vs. 9,617), but Opel’s decline was 26.1% to 9,581 compared to March 2024, and Ford dropped 17.5% to 8,752. Kubira’s year-on-year earnings were a staggering 128.5%.
In fact, things are even more sunny than what the National Registration Number Criticism Group points out. As Bestsellcarsblog recently pointed out, KBA includes CupraLeón’s sales, within the digital range of its seat brands. Why? Because everyone has a model with a name. The recent climb to sixth place was Cupra’s best ranking, then improved ten spots in January and February.
Electric cars rebound in Germany (although not Tesla)
Germans have always been very passionate about seating and Kuku cars, and some good luck and plans really help things. Electric cars suddenly came back, and in March, natural sales rose 41.1% to 1,753. But this is the front hole (4,417), which is ranked fifth overall, with the new model Terramar (2,347), thanks to the brand’s Star Moon. Imagine that this SUV Volkswagen Polo (2,335) and Mercedes C-Class (2,216) have both exceeded it.
Terramar is manufactured on the same production line by Audi Hungaria as the same new Audi Q3 as Tern, and Terramar can also have a strong sales start in most other European markets, including the UK. The production of right-hand drive cars series lags behind LHD’s architecture, but the ranks are now well.
Just like in the third quarter, Terramar offers several options for turbocharged four-cylinder engines. Again, there is no EV option. Buyers who prefer electric models can choose a hatchback or a Tavascan, or a coupe.
More library models
Cupras spans the B/C/D segment and is 4.2 to 4.6 meters long (4,519 mm in Terramar), and the brand has obviously settled as its best location. However, by the end of the decade, larger SUVs may appear, especially if the U.S. market enters.
The seat department claims its PHEV powertrain Ehybrid. These can all be used with Formentor and Leon and Terramar. By the way, if you want to know the name, the new model will be named after the Autòdromde sitges-terramar, a former racing tour near Barcelona. While I’m not sure if this is very relevant to the SUV, at least it’s a true sporty brand.
Standard DCT, six or seven speeds
The car I borrowed recently is the fastest non-electric variant, equipped with a 195 kW (265 PS) 2.0-liter TSI engine. The drive is a drive through a seven-speed DCT to two axles. In some markets, this engine also has a 150 kW (204 PS) version, with the same transmission and four-wheel drive system.
Meanwhile, the base trim brings 1.5 liters of warm and hybrid power (‘ETSI’), with outputs of 110 kW (150 ps) and 250 nm. Drive only the front axle, the standard dual-clutch transmission also has seven front gears.
For both PHEVs (although not all markets make up both), the Cupra specifies a 1.5-liter powertrain with 150 kW (204 PS). In the top VZ form, power and torque are combined to 200 kW (272 PS) and 400 nm. The DCT has six speeds, while the battery has a capacity of 20 kW.
Built in Europe, but with global parts
Nowadays, lifting the hood of any car doesn’t reveal much, but the usual large plastic shields don’t exist every now and then. This is the case with Terramar. Even the turbocharger can be panoramic, with a lengthy heat shield and multiple components. So, here, made in Czech Republic, made in Slovakia, and even made in China (all in English) stickers with the global nature of automobile manufacturing, it is easy to see. The Cupra even has a Chinese-built model, the Tavascan-A EV.
What continues to attract me is the lack of any model badges on the Cup. Often, you’ll find an identifier engraved on the side of a taillight (in this case both) that the tailgate splashes into the cup. When lifted, this reveals a very spacious boot. Below it, the spare tire has a curved well, but is empty in the case of the news tester.
Expensive halo
The carpets in the luggage bay and cabin are both of high quality, and the seat fabrics are the same, although the door cards have some hard-faced parts. This can be at least relieved by the cute copper handles and metallic exterior trim lines. The same signature shadow appears on the ventilation holes as a decor for the steering wheel. The volume is controlled by people who love or hate touch tables from Volkswagen Group, as is the cabin temperature.
The space in the front is great, although it’s not that good for the back, even with the sliding function. Not only are there a lot of gearbox humps, but the seats themselves are weird, and the knees are easily rubbed against hard plastic trim.
There is no top speed of 112 mph here
As for the driver’s view, the windows are in a good size except for the back. Nevertheless, there is at least one cleaning system, even if it works through the overloaded left stem. This is because PRND is controlled by the right person.
How is it performed? It’s great, too, as is the dynamics, zero to 62 mph, officially 5.9 seconds and V-MAX at 151 mph. Additionally, the challenging roads are pleasant due to the lot of torque and the grip is excellent. Cupra’s chassis technicians managed to tilt to a minimum, and if there was an area that could be improved, it would be riding quality.
Will it replace any older models?
Each cup-shaped look has its own unique look, and for me, this new model is as “right” as my favorite model was born. In other words, the scale is as spotty as wheel and tire sizes, color codes, lighting designs, air dams and side skirts.
The company hinted that Terramar will replace ATECA in time. I prefer the interior of an SUV, but these things are always subjective. Overall, there is no reason why the new SUVs are not selling well – indeed already – keep going.
The new Cupra Terramar costs 37,885 GB37,885 (the “V1” model is 1.5 MHEV). The tested V2 2.0 TSI 265 (PS) is priced from GBP47,745 before the option.
