Oriole claims Daniel Johnson – MLB Trade Rumor

Orioles announce they have asked for outfielders Daniel Johnson Exempted from the Giant. The latter club designated him as a mission last week. O also chose a right-handed contract José Espada And choose him to go to Triple Norfolk. Their 40-man lineup is 39 years old, which means they need to open a position. They do this by specifying the correct one Houston Ross Make allocations.

O obviously looks like Johnson. They signed his minor league contract before the 2024 season. Last September, he was called but only participated in one game before being selected back to a minor. At the end of the season, he was eliminated from the roster and elected free agents. He signed a minor league contract with the Giants this year and was selected for the major league roster in June. A few days ago, he was assigned as a mission and O took the opportunity to bring him back.

Johnson’s Major League Baseball record remains fairly limited. He has 126 plate appearances dating back to his 2020 debut and has a slash of .193/.238/.336. O is probably more interested in his minor league track record. From early 2023 to now, he made a total of .267/.333/.469 lines and 107 WRC+. He also had 54 stolen bases at that time, although he was arrested 19 times in the process.

O’s trades from the outfield before the deadline Cedric Mullins,,,,, Ramón Laureano and Ryan O’Hearn. Since then, they have lost their way Colton Cowser and Taylor O’Neill to the injured list. This makes their current outfield mix Jeremiah Jackson,,,,, Dylan Carlson,,,,, Greg Allen,,,,, Jordyn Adams and Ryan Noda. Johnson can join the group directly, although he will be viable for the rest of the year, and may end up with Triple-A Norfolk.

As for Espada, he signed a minor league contract with O’s O a few weeks ago. He was added to the 40-man lineup but has been added to the minor, indicating some kind of opt-out or upward move clause in the deal. O doesn’t seem to have a direct major league list for him, but doesn’t want him to escape, so they add him to 40 people.

Since joining O, he has dropped six innings and three innings, earning four runs on four hits and two walks, hitting eight at the same time. He only has one big league experience, this is the 2023 Padres. Among minors, he is usually able to miss the bat, but also miss the strike zone. He has been signing a minor league deal with Padres until recently signed as O. Between the two organizations, he threw 43 1/3 innings on the farm this year, with an average running rate of 37.1% and a walking rate of 11.8%.

In addition to the above-mentioned outfielders, Orioles also traded many relief workers at the deadline. Brian Baker,,,,, Gregory Soto,,,,, Seranthony Domínguez and Andrew Kittrech All were sent out of the July door, opening the opportunity to the bullpen. Espada was not called today, but his roster put him in a good position and was called later.

As for Ross, he was selected to be on the list a few weeks ago after the Domínguez trade. He was selected as a minor a few days later before entering the competition, so he is still seeking a debut.

As the trade deadline passes, he is destined to be exempted from wire transfers in the coming days. A little similar to Espada, his minor league job features strikeouts and lots of walking. He has been primarily a starter in his early career since the beginning of 2024. At that time, he threw 92 innings on the farm with a 2.93 ERA, a strikeout rate of 30.1% and a walking rate of 11.3%.

He still has a complete choice and has almost no service time. If other clubs are interested enough in his minor league work to file a claim, he could be a cheap depth for the foreseeable future.
