Orioles put Adley Rutschman on 10-day injury list

Orioles announced this afternoon Adley Rutschman Because of the left oblique strain, it was placed on the list of injured 10 days. catcher Maverick Handli Recalled to the Grand Slam to replace Razman on the roster.

The news came after Rutschman was late on Friday, due to what the Orioles called “The belly is tight.” Manager Tony Mansolino told reporters (including Matt Weyrich of the Baltimore Suns) that Rutschman went to MRI this morning. Obviously, this round of tests found that the switch hit the rear car with a tense inclination force. Rutschman currently has two All-Star and Decorative Batsmen in his fourth season, hitting .227/.319/.372 with a 100 WRC+ record, but at the league average with a 100 WRC+ record.

This can be explained as very worrying, given that Rutzman also suffered a year (104 WRC+) in 2024, but the good news is that so far this season, Ratzman’s basic performance (.350 xwoba) has significantly outpaced his actual output (.309 WOBA). He walks more than last year, with his career’s best barrel rate (8.6%), and his paltry .247 Babip will certainly increase if there is time. More worrying than his offensive numbers is that he has a fair amount of pedestrians on the defensive board this year, but it is well known that the defensive metrics are fickle and it is not a shock to see these numbers recover for a long time.

Of course, Rutzman now needs to be healthy and return to the field in order to do a good job of those expected improvements. It is unclear how long Rutschman is expected to miss, although italic strains are difficult for position players to rebound quickly due to the spinning nature of the hit rate. Even a rather mild strain can usually take more than a month of recovery, so it’s not shocking to see Rutschman exit commission until after the All-Star game. At the same time, it is obvious that the oriole will rely on Gary Sanchez and Handley. Sanchez has played only 17 games this year after dealing with his own injury, but he cut the respectable .217/.298/.433 (101 WRC+) and returned to the 2023 game with 32 homers in 598 sets. Meanwhile, Handley made his debut earlier this year, reaching 0.075/.136/.075 as the Big League in 15 games.

Handley’s lack of performance will naturally attract attention to the prospect of top capture Samuel BasalloHe has long been considered one of the best prospects in the entire game. Mansolino largely shut down an option that Basallo might soon emerge. As Baltimore Flag Andy Kostka pointed out, Mansorino said he hopes to meet Baslo “Absolutely destroying triple A in every aspect of the game” He will be on the Major League Call once he joins the Major League club “Knock on the door.”

It’s hard to say that at least from an offensive perspective, Barcelona haven’t knocked very strongly yet. The 20-year-old has a ridiculous .266/.374/.589 slash line this year with the club’s Norfolk branch, which fits 151 WRC+. He hit 15 home runs in just 46 games while walking in an amazing 14.4% clip. That being said, he only won 15 games this season after dealing with hamstring and elbow issues early in the year, which cost him games and he limits him to DH even if he is in good health. Given the reality and the shaky results of Basallo behind the plate after the defensive scout, it is not necessarily a shock to the Orioles that want to see a larger sample of their highest prospects before the Grand Slam.
