Associated Press A report published on Monday, November 17 confirmed the death of the Australian athlete. The outlet cited a joint statement from the Australian Athletes Association The Australian Paralympic Committee and the Australian Cycling Federation said Page died “at home in Adelaide following a medical emergency” on Sunday, November 16.

“Peppa means everything to us,” Paige’s mother, Natalie Grecosaid Monday. “Her kindness, her determination and her warmth touched our family every day. She brought so much joy and pride to our lives, and the pain of her passing is something we will always bear.”

Natalie continued: “While we are saddened by her passing, we are incredibly proud of the person she was and the way she represented Australia. As a family, we are so grateful for the support from so many people connected to Paige, including her teammates and friends. Paige cherished the connections she made through the sport and we are relieved to know she was so widely loved.”

Page, who suffers from cerebral palsy, won the gold medal in the women’s C1-3 3000m individual pursuit at the 2021 Tokyo Paralympics, and also won bronze medals in the women’s time trial and road race.

Earlier this year, she won a bronze medal at the World Para Cycling Road Championships.

“The sadness felt by Paralympic Australia today reflects the enormous respect for her,” Cameron MurrayParalympic Australia’s chief executive said in a statement. “Paige was an extraordinary athlete, but more importantly, he was an extraordinary person.”

Murray added: “Her achievements on the international stage were extraordinary, but her kindness, her quiet determination and the way she inspired those around her will always be remembered by all of us. She had a rare ability to make people feel included and supported, and her influence will undoubtedly leave a lasting impression on many.”

Paige is active on social media, showing off her family and travels, celebrating her achievements and sharing her lows with fans.

“As an elite athlete, there are always going to be ups and downs,” she said via Instagram August 2024. “Not being selected for the 2024 Paris Olympics was one of the toughest moments of my cycling career. I had gone through some health changes and unfortunately the plans that my team and I had put in place this year were not enough to help me qualify. Sometimes, the best plans don’t come true – it’s a huge disappointment, but my performance was still competitive and worthy of a podium, which is what matters. Regardless, I’m proud of the hard work that I and my team put in to prepare and get to where we did.”

She added: “I’m so grateful for all the support and love I’m receiving at the moment and I’m absolutely devastated that I won’t be able to make it to the Olympics, but to my teammates and staff, I wish you all the best and know you’ll make us all proud.”
