PHNX Sports’ relationship with Sun reporter cuts contact after Charlie Kirk post

Phnx Sports split the way with longtime Phoenix Suns the beat writer Gerald Bourguet, who made a series of comments on the death of conservative activist Charlie Kirk in a series of social media comments.
The company issued a statement regarding X’s confirmation of the decision:
“The opinions expressed by our employees do not represent the views of PHNX or AllCity Network. We take violence involved very seriously and are committed to ensuring that AllCity remains a safe place for our employees and communities. We have addressed this issue with individuals and made decisions separate.”
The opinions expressed by our employees do not represent the views of PHNX or AllCity Network. We take things that involve violence very seriously and are committed to ensuring that AllCity remains a safe place for our employees and our communities. We’ve solved this problem…

Bourguet also hosted the PHNX Suns podcast, which came under fire after posting a series of news on his personal account. He wrote:
“‘Political Difference’ is not the same thing as making hateful remarks every day, refusing to mourn a life dedicated to this reason is different from celebrating gun violence. So we are 100% clear about this.”
“Political differences” and daily hateful remarks are not the same thing as celebrating gun violence. This way we are 100% clear about this.

He continued to challenge those who were frustrated by his position, adding:
“If you feel sad about the ‘political violence’ today, shocked by the video, or shocked yourself by my response, ask yourself why you responded differently in school shootings, mass deportations or hundreds of videos of horror murders in Gaza (Kirk laughed).
“He is the father”
When the victims of mass shootings are literal children, half of you do nothing to stop gun violence. Those children are not paranoids who spread genocide propaganda, nor are they who are directly fed with this ironic Holy Grail: pic.twitter.com/ydsexl2fx1

In another post, Bourguet doubles:
“It really doesn’t care if you think refusing to respect a dead evil person is an insensitive time or a bad time. Too many of you care more about being polite, looking good, rather than showing some damn backbone and sticking to (principle) condemning hatred.”
If you feel sad about the “political violence” today, those videos are shocked or rejected by my response, ask yourself why your reaction is in school shootings, mass deportations or hundreds of videos of horrible murders in Gaza (Kirk cheers)

As of publication, Bourguet has not publicly commented on his dismissal.
