Carlos Alcaraz began his live preparations for the Nitto ATP Finals on Wednesday with his first practice session at Inalpi Arena. Alcaraz clashed with Turin rival Taylor Fritz during evening training.

The Spaniard aims to win the Nitto ATP Finals trophy for the first time and aims to end the season as the year-end number one in the ATP rankings presented by the PIF. Alcaraz has a season-leading 67 race wins and has added eight more titles to his trophy cabinet this year.

Alexander Zverev and Ben Shelton also arrived in Turin to train separately at the Inalpi Stadium on Wednesday. Defending champions Jannik Sinner and Alex de Minaur were among the players batting at nearby training ground Stampa Sporting.

Shelton will make his debut at the prestigious end-of-year event. The 23-year-old American won the biggest title of his career at the ATP Masters 1000 event in Canada in August and climbed to a career-high No. 6. He also reached his second Grand Slam semifinal at the Australian Open.

Zverev is a two-time champion of the Nitto ATP Finals, lifting the trophy in 2018 and 2021. The German reached his third Grand Slam final in Melbourne and won his 24th tour-level title in Munich in April.
