Poll: Which team has been the biggest injury this year?

Injuries are an inevitable part of baseball. According to the injury report on the roster, there are currently 229 players on the MLB injury list. That’s less than a third of the active roster. Each team has about seven or eight injured players. Some injuries are predictable or preventable, while others are due to pure luck. No team can completely avoid using IL anyway, but the most successful clubs are those that can minimize injuries, such as the surprisingly successful Tigers and Royals last year, or finding ways to overcome them, such as last year’s World Series champion Dodge. With the 2025 inches closer to the middle of the road, is a team that stands out? Is this the most injured team this year?
The most obvious answer is the Dodgers, who currently have 14 players (all pitchers) on the major league injury roster, the most of all teams. The Dodgers have placed 22 players at Illinois State since the beginning of the season, the highest total in the national league and the second highest player in the Grand Slam, behind the White Sox (23). All of these players missed 960 games in 2025, according to the baseball prospectus list Ledger. This is the highest total in the sport. The Mets missed second place with 695 cumulative games. The 265-game gap between the Dodgers and the Mets is roughly the same as the gap between the second-place Mets and the No. 20-ranked Mariners (missed 441 games). If that doesn’t seem to say how many players the Dodgers lost to Illinois, consider it: They’ve lost 68 games of player games in 2025, rather than injured in a few teams they’ve lost all in 2024.
More importantly, this is not to say we are just talking about the damage of deep weapons or bench bats. Two-time Cy Young winner Blake Snell He has suffered from shoulder inflammation since the second start of the season. All-star first Tyler Glasnow No pitches have been made since the end of April. He is also nursing a shoulder injury, and so is the rookie phenomenon Roki Sasaki. Several key bullpens have also come out, including Blake Treinen (Forearms tight) and Evan Phillips (Tommy John surgery). Of course, none of the IL statistics I quoted above include Shohei Ohtanihe still has no way to pitch this year.
However, in terms of the total value of injuries since the start of the 2025 campaign, the baseball prospectus estimates that the Dodgers have lost only the expected third twist (the victory above is the replacement player). Warp yarns are just one way to measure value, and this is what the expected yarn is: projection. Still, it is worth considering that just because the Dodgers lost to IL, they don’t necessarily lose their maximum value.
In the expected warp, the teams that have been candid in the expected warp of injury are a pair of Al East rivals: the Yankees and the Orioles. Yankees don’t have ace Gerrit Coleunderwent surgery for Tommy John in March. Louis Gill2024 Rookie of the Year champion, has also been standing out throughout the year as he nursing LAT stress. In terms of position players, elbow injury has been maintained as designated hitter Giancarlo Stanton Although he has recently started his rehabilitation mission, he has been off the court all year round. More Yankees who missed time at some point include Jazz Chisholm Jr.,,,,, Clarke Schmidt,,,,, Fernando Cruz,,,,, DJ Lemahieuand Marcus Stromancloser Luke Weaver Recently, hamstring strains were used to land on IL.
As for the orioles, they don’t Grayson Rodriguez All seasons of the year. He first brought elbow inflammation at Illinois State University, and then suffered elongated stress that helped him further. Albert Suárez Since he first appeared on his shoulder inflammation this season, Zach Eflin I also missed a lot of time at the beginning of this year. As far as location participants are concerned, the Orioles do not currently Taylor O’Neill,,,,, Ryan Mountcastle,,,,, Gary Sánchezand Jorge Mateo. Other times that missed this season include Colton Cowser,,,,, Jordan Westburg,,,,, Cedric Mullinsand Gunnar Henderson.
Eventually, all three Dodges, Yankees and Orioles lost their necks due to injuries, according to the baseball prospectus. However, I have to doubt if anyone can really argue that the Yankees and Dodgers were injured this year “hard”. They are ranked first in their respective divisions and ranked among the top five MLB teams that win percentages and differences. According to Fangraphs and the baseball prospectus, they have the highest odds for the playoffs and World Series in their respective leagues. Even though they have all the players missing (or missed it at some point), they are still thriving. I would make a similar argument to the Mets. They also lost their due players and were injured, including Sean Manaea,,,,, Frankie Montasand AJ Minter. Still, the Mets have the best record in the National League and no team runs less in baseball.
On the other hand, the orioles have serious underperformance. They sat at the last place in Al East, and their 26-39 record made them look like potential sellers on the deadline. While their bats are disappointing, pitching has been their downfall so far. Maybe they won’t fight with the healthy Rodriguez for leading their rotation.
By then, the baseball prospectus list ledger also showed percentage An estimated warpage loss for a team. By this metric, neither the Yankees nor the Dodgers (especially the Dodgers) rank very high. Think of it this way: They both lost to Illinois, but those losses didn’t hurt them as badly as they might have hurt other teams, because the Yankees and the Dodgers have such a talented roster. As you might expect, the Orioles are still ranked high. They ranked second in MLB, with the expected percentage of warpage of loss injury. However, through this metric, a new top competitor emerged: the winemaker.
Last year, pitching injuries plagued winemakers, and they remained a problem in 2025. When the winemaker signs the contract Brandon Woodruff On his two-year contract in the 2023-24 offseason, he knew he might miss the situation he recovered from shoulder surgery throughout the 2024 season and they certainly hope he will be pitching in 2025. So far, this has not been the case. He hopes to debut this week in 2025, and then a right elbow bruise defeated his plan. In addition to Woodruff, the brewers also hit the IL at some point this year, including Nestor Cortes,,,,, Aarons,,,,, Jose Quintana,,,,, Tobias Myersand DL Hall. Milwaukee also lacks a pair of outfielders Garrett Mitchell and Blake Perkins. Finally, the star catcher William Contreras Always playing with broken fingers. He didn’t miss any time, but his injury almost certainly explains his pedestrian performance on the plate.
The Brewers are also in a very different position than the Yankees and Dodgers, which seem to have to be the Playoffs or Orioles, and they are so poor that even if everyone on the roster is healthy, they may still be under .500. Milwaukee played 2.5 games in 36-32, 5.5 games and NL Wildcard games at NL Central. All the damage they suffer can ultimately make the winemakers different from the seventh time in the last eight years to the playoffs or to score a link in October.
The Marlins and Rockies are two other teams that rank high in the expected percentage of warp losses, but more important than the Yankees and Dodgers, their record is enough to disqualify them from this conversation. The same goes for the White Sox, who in 2025, have invested more players in Illinois than any other team. Perhaps the injury left the Marlins, Rockies and the White Sox all lost several wins, but even with these extra wins, the three clubs would still be in the basement.
There are several teams yes It’s worth considering those who may not have lost much value to the damage yet, but as the season goes on, who will surely. For example, the Rattlesnake has recently lost its ace Corbin Burnes UCL torn this season. Stud Relief Justin Martinez Sprained UCL can also be performed on IL, which may require end-of-season surgery. The Red Sox has also lost some key players recently, most notably Alex Bregmanthey may miss out on the recovery from the major four strains.
So with so many considerations, MLBTR readers think the team that has been most injured this year has suffered the biggest damage? There is a say in the following polls:
