Predator: Into the Wild director will revive the worst cinematic universe ever

Author: Chris Snelgrove Published

Currently, both the Alien and Predator franchises are experiencing revivals: Alien: Romulus was a popular movie, Alien: Earth became a television sensation, and Predator: Badlands It is currently making a splash at the box office. However, both franchises were at their nadir a few years ago, with both Alien vs. Predator movies grossly trampling on established classics while giving us one phone call-in action scene after another.

But now, wasteland Director Dan Trachtenberg says he wants to create Alien vs. Predator 3it sounds like he has the creative vision to finally make this monster mayhem work.

If it bleeds, can we… cook it?

it all started with Alien: Romulus Director Fede Alvarez jokes about creating a Alien vs. Predator 3 Movie starring Trachtenberg. In a recent interview with The Direct, Trachtenberg was asked if there had been any discussions about properly resurrecting the controversial horror series. Surprisingly, Trachtenberg said he could do so, but wanted the different elements of each series to fully “cook…simmer and reach the perfect temperature” he would make Alien vs. Predator 3 Soon “pull”[ing] It came out of the oven so fast and[it was all just raw]. “[having[italljustberaw”[这一切都只是生的。”[having[italljustberaw”

Soon after, Dan Trachtenberg laughed at his silly metaphor, claiming “I don’t know, I can’t cook” and jokingly admitting he used “too many jargon” to answer the question. Underneath the awkward oven metaphor, however, the director makes an important point: rushing into a new Alien vs. Predator movie would be unwise, a bit like the failed DCEU rushing to create a new one. justice league Movie. In retrospect, it’s clear that this superhero movie would have been a greater success if Warner Bros. had taken the time to develop all of these characters individually before bringing them together on the screen.

The crossover has begun

Broadly speaking, this seems to be what Trachtenberg wants to do, and he’s already laying the groundwork for: Alien vs. Predator 3 exist Predator: Badlands. exist wasteland (Please note that I will be covering some spoilers here), one of the most prominent characters are the synths created by Weyland-Yutani, the same evil corporation from the Alien series. It all started with his idea to combine the Predator with a robot, and he decided to make it a synthetic robot since Disney now owns the Alien and Predator franchises.

Trachtenberg shows remarkable restraint in introducing one of the most familiar alien concepts, but not the alien itself. In the interview, he described how he thought doing so was “much cooler” than just grabbing action figures and smashing them together. Instead, he thought it would be more effective to cleverly “take elements from one series and blend them into another.”

Whoever loses, we win

Based on the quality of his three Predator movies and his comments in this interview, I can’t help but feel that Dan Trachtenberg may be the only director on the planet who could actually pull off an Alien vs. Predator movie. The restraint he showed in making wasteland Only a quasi-crossover would prove that he’s more interested in telling a good story than engaging in empty fan service, and his comments indicate that he knows that a truly successful cinematic universe takes a lot of time to build. He sincerely wants to take his time to make this crossover a success rather than rushing for a cheap cash grab, which seems refreshing in a world of films that are more interested in selling toys than anything else.

Only time will tell if there will be another Alien vs. Predator movie, and if Dan Trachtenberg will end up directing it. So far, though, he’s done an amazing job with the Predator films, effectively resurrecting a franchise long thought to be dead. With such a talented director, we can really turn the old AvP slogan on its head: “Whoever loses, we win.”
