Peg, 62, was the first to get up; her daughter dakotawasn’t afraid to probe Mel about her feelings for her mom.

Bachelor Golden Finalist Debbie Siebers has a one-in-a-million connection with Mel Owens. “Mel is amazing. I love him so much,” Debbie, 65, exclusively told Us Weekly at the King’s Bachelor Girls Brunch on Thursday, October 16. “We have a very natural, comfortable connection. We’re both from the Midwest and it just seems like […]

Dakota then told the camera: “I asked Mel some very direct questions, and his answers didn’t necessarily reassure me.”

“But if you weren’t with any of these women, you’d be like, ‘Do you want to date after this?'” she said before pressing Mel, “The end goal is you should get down on one knee and propose to someone.”

“My goal is to find someone – that’s the goal,” he responded. “Whatever that means.”

When Dakota asked again, “Are you really looking for someone?” Mel tried to reassure her, “If I wasn’t serious, I wouldn’t be here.”

Next, Mel heads to Colorado to visit Debbie, who the fitness guru gets to know more about during her trip to Red Rocks, revealing that her last relationship ended in tragedy in her early 50s.

“I knew he had a bit of depression, but he hid a lot from me. Within maybe six months, I started seeing this behavior and it felt really heavy. I tried breaking up with him a few times, but I could never because I loved him so much,” Debbie explained to Mel. “It’s like I can’t live with him or without him. I’m completely conflicted.”

Debbie saw a therapist with her then-boyfriend, and she ended therapy with professional help. “The horrible thing is, he took his own life,” Debbie recalled to Mel. “It changed me forever.”

Mel supported Debbie at the time, assuring her that she couldn’t have predicted what would happen to her ex.

Mel’s last date in his hometown was with Cindy, where he met the retired biomedical engineer’s three daughters. While her sons-in-law would rather talk college football with Mel, one of Cindy’s daughters takes more inspiration from Peg’s daughter, Dakota.

“She dated and was with some really great men, but they just weren’t ‘the guy.'” It was very important to her that whatever happened next would affect her for the rest of her life. Did you see it with my mom? Is this your experience? ” she asked Mel.

“I don’t know. I love your mom so much. I don’t know what’s going to happen in the next few weeks or months,” Mel admitted. “I let it happen naturally.”

Concerned that Mel was a little “tight-lipped” or “uncertain” about her future with her mom, she admitted in a confessional, “I don’t think he really gave a lot of straight answers. I was a little concerned about the long-term relationship that I knew my mom wanted.”

Cindy, for her part, became emotional as she told her daughter about her strong feelings for Mel.

When Mel picked the final two, he began by sending a message to the three women.

“When I first talked to you about the podcast, I had my own personal guilt,” he said at the rose ceremony, referring to comments he made before the season began airing about casting women ages 45 to 60. “I thought I wanted a certain type of woman, and I still do, and they were right in front of me: beautiful, accomplished, talented, spiritual. But I had a very, very difficult decision to make. I don’t make this decision lightly, and I stand humbly before you with an open heart.”

Mel eventually gave the roses to Peg and Cindy, sending an emotional Debbie home.

“It’s very frustrating, but I know it’s possible. Of course I think or hope…” she told Mel through tears.

After Mel assured Debbie that she “touched my heart in so many ways,” Debbie left Mel a final message: “Take care of those girls, okay?”

The two kissed goodbye twice before Debbie got in the car.
“I put myself out there in such a huge way only to be disappointed again,” she said. “This is so painful.”

While Mel’s journey continues with the Women Tell All event on Wednesday, October 29, he gives US Weekly Exclusive insights into making your final choice – which includes a list of pros and cons – in his us Cover story.

“It’s been tough, I’m just trying to figure out who’s the best fit for me and who I’m going to like,” he told me us. “Hometowns are great. But no matter what, there’s a pull that pulls you in that direction, and it tends to one person more than another, so I went with my gut.”

He added that the ending was exciting and unexpected.

“You won’t believe how we got there, not mechanically, but how we got there emotionally,” he said. “There’s some action and twists.”

Golden Bachelor It airs Wednesdays at 9pm ET on ABC.
