Ray J’s mom responds to commenter who says she raised a terrible son

Lei Jie and brandy Mom won’t tolerate haters—especially when they target her kids.

“I hope each of you had a great Thanksgiving. The day started out a little rough, but we had a wonderful Thanksgiving as a family. Love you all, and we’re on the road again tomorrow,” the singer’s mom, Sonia B. Norwoodwrote via Facebook on Thursday, November 27, to commemorate the holiday. “Detroit! See you soon!”

The proud mom – who is currently on tour with her daughter and singer Monica – completed her post with heart emojis and the hashtags #familyfirst and #TheBoyIsMineTour.

“You raised a terrible son,” one person wrote in the comments section, referring to Ray J, real name William Ray Norwood, Jr. “happy holidays!”

Instead of deleting or ignoring the comment, Sonya decided to get involved. “Sorry, but I don’t think so,” she replied.

“You think pulling a gun and throwing a woman into a pool is a good representation of the kind of man you raise,” the commenter responded. “Well, hopefully I can do better.”

Ray J, 44, was arrested on Thursday morning in relation to his ex-wife, princess lovecalled authorities, claiming he pointed a gun at her during an on-air argument. According to KTLA, officers arrived at the 20000 block of Birmingham Road in Los Angeles around 3:55 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day.

Love also told police that Ray J allegedly had a history of domestic violence.

US Weekly It was confirmed that the singer was arrested and booked on suspicion of criminal threats and is currently being held in a Los Angeles-area jail. His bail was set at $50,000. As of Saturday, November 29, he did not appear to remain in custody.

Disturbing footage from the incident was shared via social media. The clip begins with Ray J saying, “Y’all wanna drive drunk? Y’all wanna drive drunk? Driving drunk. Driving drunk, princess,” before Love interjects, “Ray, you just pointed a gun at—”

“Drunk, Princess. Go ahead,” Ray J also said. “You want to take my kids away? You and your drunk cousin? Because you were all drunk in the pub? Then take my kids, come on. Who’s going to drive? Tony, he’s been drinking too.”

“You pointed a gun at us, you pointed a gun at us,” Love continued. She later added, “Ray, you are an abuser of women.”

“This is what drunkenness is like [person] Always say. Like, you took my daughter away? ” Ray J replied.

The couple documented their early years of marriage on VH1 Love & Hip Hop: Hollywoodgot married in August 2016 and have since filed for divorce four times. Love recently filed for divorce in February 2024. they have a daughter melody loveBorn in May 2018, son Epic RayJoined the family in January 2020.

Love first filed for divorce from Ray J in May 2020. The request was dismissed in July 2020, but a few months later Ray J filed for divorce in September 2020 and then had his request dismissed in March 2021. The singer filed for divorce again in October 2021 and was fired in March 2023.

“It is in the best interest of both of us to go our separate ways,” Love explained via Instagram in February 2024, after filing for divorce for the fourth time. “We want to assure you that this decision was made with careful consideration, mutual respect, and consideration for each other’s well-being. While our relationship as spouses may be coming to an end, we remain committed to co-parenting our children and maintaining a positive and supportive family dynamic.”
