Ryder Cup week hasn’t begun, but the heat has risen in the highly anticipated battle of Bethpage Black. The two biggest stars of the Ryder Cup – Rory McIlroy and Bryson DeChambeau are hitting ahead of the event.
European veteran McIlroy is the latest news to the bill. In the new guardian McIlroy fought back the Bethpage dominating Masters champion “chirp” in an August interview at East Lake in an effort to fight back on American star DeChambeau’s plan.
This is what you need to know.
Rory rejects Bryson’s Ryder Cup
On the 2025 Ryder Cup Days Guardian’s Ewen Murray gave an exclusive interview to McIlroy. But the interview itself is not new. Murray sat down in the East Lake locker room with McIlroy during the 2025 Tour Championship to get him thinking about his Masters and of course the upcoming Ryder Cup.

In the interview, Murray made the latest comment from Dechambeau. At the “Happy Gilmore 2” premiere in New York City in July this year people Asked DeChambeau about McIlroy and Ryder Cup.
His reaction could be considered one of the first shots of the nervous Ryder Cup.
“I will do it [McIlroy’s] This time the ears. Now, if we fight each other, I mean, you can be sure. ” DeChambeau said.
When Murray asked McIlroy what he thought about Bethpage’s plan for him at Bethpage, McIlroy refuted it with his own poke in the two-time U.S. Open champions.
“I think the only way he’s focused is to mention other people. That’s basically what I think. To get attention, he’ll mention me or Scotty or not. [Scheffler] or others. McIlroy told guardian.
The existing competition between the two players may affect the tone of their comments. On the court, McIlroy and Dechambeau have been in the relative aspect of the PGA Tour golf hatred.
In the course, DeChambeau stole the 2024 U.S. Open from McIlroy’s mastery, who won his historic Masters victory in Augusta in April. Bryson played with Rory in the final round and finished the T5. After the game, Dechambeau claimed that McIlroy “hadn’t talk to me all day long.”
But their Ryder Cup history has hardly intersected. DeChambeau competed in two Ryder Cup matches in 2018 and 2021. Although McIlroy also played in both games, they never faced each other in the game.
DeChambeau did not become a U.S. team at Roma’s 2023 Ryder Cup.

McIlroy: It’s “inevitable” Ryder Cup fans will “reach us”
Recently, about how New York fans will perform in the three-day match of the Ryder Cup Black.
Although no one knows what to expect, both the US and European players seem to agree that it will be a loud, hostile environment for the visiting team. Additionally, the last Ryder Cup encounters a near-fight fact between players and you will have a turbulent golf game.
In his guardian McIlroy revealed that he believes that “something will inevitably happen” at this year’s Ryder Cup.

“I think something is inevitable in New York. It may not involve me, but it is inevitable that something will happen, whether it is in Rome once or something else,” McIlroy said.
He continued: “I just thought, when you get into that environment and you’re there for five to six days, the crowds are on you for eight hours, so many days… it’s inevitable, or at some point, it’s going to be someone or as a group. We just have to do a really good job of managing each other’s support and protecting each other.”
But McIlroy is also confident about his team’s destruction and chances of a U.S. team gathering next week. This confidence comes from the “continuity” he sees in the European team that wins in 2023.
“If I compared it to the last two Ryder Cups I’ve played, I would say we’re in a better place,” McIlroy said. “I still believe we’re losers, but I’m more confident than 2016 and 2021 and we can make it happen.”
The Ryder Cup action begins next Friday, September 26 on the Black Route on Long Island.
