Rosa Fire Burning in Riverside County, Promoting Evacuation Order

A vegetation fire ignited in the Santa Rosa Mountains in Riverside County on Monday afternoon, burning 1,200 acres by nightfall and prompting nearby rural communities to evacuate orders.

The fire, known as the Rosa Fire, was reportedly east of Highway 74, on the Santa Rosa Truck Trail on the hill between the Palm Desert and Anza, according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire.

Three hundred firefighters were deployed to the incident, which burned at a moderate rate of diffusion, accounting for 0% on Monday night.

The evacuation order was issued for Pumu, Pinyin and Gaoshan Village communities and their nearby families, while evacuation warnings were issued at Pinyon Crest. Here you can see a map of the affected area.

Care and reception centres are established at the ANZA Community Centre and the Palm Desert Community Centre, while the Animal Evacuation Centre opens at the San Jacinto Animal Shelter and Coachella Valley Animal Campus.

According to Cal Fire, forty-nine engines, five snacks, four water tenders and two helicopters were allocated to fight the fire.

The South Coast Air Quality Management District has issued an air quality consultation for part of the Coachella Valley and Santa Clarita Valley, due to smoke from Rosa Fire and the 72,460-acre Gifford Fire at Los Padres National Forest, and the 348-acre Gifford Fire at San Bernardino National Forest. Residents are advised to avoid or restrict outdoor activities.
