Russia’s Medvedev says Trump’s statement about the role of the US World War II is “conceited nonsense”
MOSCOW (Reuters) – President Donald Trump’s assertion that the United States did more in World War II than any other country did was “conceited nonsense” according to President Donald Trump’s assertion.
Trump posted social networking on social network truth late Thursday, “No one has maintained close relationship with us in terms of strength, courage or military glory during the two world wars” and “we have done more than we have ever won in World War II so far than any other country.”
Medvedev, a former Russian president who has been one of Moscow’s most outspoken anti-Western Hawks since the beginning of the Ukrainian war, made his own statement as Washington and Moscow tried to reset their beleaguered ties while discussing possible ways to end the conflict.
“Trump recently announced that the United States has made the biggest contribution to the victory in World War II, and he will launch a special holiday on May 8. The holiday is not a bad thing, but his first statement is conceited nonsense.”
“Our people sacrificed the lives of 27 million sons and daughters in the name of destroying condemned fascism. Therefore, the day of victory is ours, it is May 9! Medvedev wrote.
