Ryder Cup officials give 3K tickets to unsuspecting fans

Over the next five months, thousands of golf fans in the New York area may be surprised: The US PGA will offer free tickets to the Bethpage Black Ryder Cup.

In a giveaway known as the “People’s Allowance,” the PGA in the United States will randomly give tickets to New York residents – without notice when and where – who is at Bethpage Black and several other public golf courses in Long Island and the New York metro area.

The Metropolitan PGA section will help select public courses, and then the US PGA will make randomly selected visits to distribute tickets. There will also be a series of special visits to provide Ryder Cup tickets to area first responders and community groups.

In both cases, the giveaway will feature U.S. leaders and special Ryder Cup guests.

The Ryder Cup is September 28-30, on the infamous black court of the infamous Bethpage State Park, which hosted two U.S. Opens and a PGA champion. The first U.S. Open for the Real Public Course was held in 2002 at Bethpage Black and was known as the “People’s Open.”

The Ryder Cup is one of the toughest tickets to golf next to the Masters. Gameday tickets (including food and non-alcoholic beverages) are $750 for 2025 games, more than double the 2021 Whistle Channel, the last time the Ryder Cup was held in the U.S.

More than 500,000 people registered to purchase tickets. They go on sale on November 13 and the match day (Friday to Sunday) is sold out in a few hours.

From Tuesday to Sunday, the random giveaway is 500 tickets per day. Everyone who chooses will receive a coupon of two tickets.

Anyone who receives free tickets from practice days Tuesday to Thursday can use the junior admission policy, with children around 15 years of age and ticketed adults free admission.

“People’s Allowance” is a special way for us to celebrate the unparalleled dedication and enthusiasm of the New York golf community in the New York golf community by providing them with an unforgettable experience of the 2025 Ryder Cup.

“The PGA of America is honored to share the excitement of golf’s greatest team event with our host community,” Rea said. “We can’t wait to welcome lucky ticket recipients this September as we all lag behind Captain Keegan Bradley and Team USA.”

Two years ago, Europeans won the victory in Italy’s Marco Simone, who won eight of their last 11 Ryder Cups. Their last victory in the United States was in Medinah in 2012.
