Sahith Theegala exits Truist due to neck injury

Flour Town, Pennsylvania – Sahith Theegala withdrew from the Truist title Sunday days before the second-biggest season of the season, citing a neck injury.

Theegala opened the rounds of 69 and 71, at the time of $20 million, uncut signature event, and then fell into the field with 78 and 88 points on Saturday. After the birdies opening the third round, Theegala scored four bogeys, double bogeys and triple bogeys in the Wissahickon course at Philadelphia Cricket Club.

The 27-year-old Theegala entered the world’s No. 31 this week.

It is unclear whether the injury will affect him at the PGA Championship that began Thursday at the Hollow Club of Quill in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Theegala is the third player to drop out of Truist’s title for Justin Rose (sick) and Michael Kim (back).
