Sandstorms, strong winds prompt Beijing to cancel hundreds of flights and close parks

The threat of heavy winds and dust storms on Saturday prompted Beijing to cancel hundreds of flights and closed parks as heavy winds cut down hundreds of trees, broken cars and destroyed old homes in the Chinese capital.

Beijing’s two large international airports, the Beijing capital and Dashin, canceled 693 flights at 2 p.m. local time, warning that there were more violent weather along the way, especially in the northern and coastal areas of the country.

More flights and trains have been canceled in other parts of China. Some parts of the country have recorded their strongest winds, the highest speed (92 mph) registry for over 75 years.

In Beijing, Universal Studios theme park is closed from at least Sunday to Sunday, with Beijing’s restricted areas, summer palaces and gods of heaven all closed. Football games and other outdoor activities have also been suspended.

High winds and dust storms occurred in northern China, and the Gobi and Takramakan deserts were surrounded by grasslands and mountains and forests.
