Sen. Mitch McConnell, 83, hospitalized with flu-like symptoms

The fall came as McConnell was being questioned about his views on Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

His fall at the Capitol was the third public fall in 2025, and the politician had two public falls at the Capitol in total.

McConnell also suffered a public concussion in 2023 after tripping and falling inside the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in Washington. He was wheelchair-bound for his recovery, NBC News reported at the time.

McConnell has been a Kentucky congressman since 1985 and is currently in his seventh Senate term. He also served as Senate Republican Conference Leader from 2007 to 2025. He announced last year that he would not seek re-election in 2026.
